Ok, so I am still confused with all the ISO versions - I have the following Enterprise files - en_windows_10_enterprise_version_1607_updated_jul_2016_x64_dvd_9054264.iso and SW_DVD5_WIN_ENT_10_1607_64BIT_English_MLF_X21-07102.iso No clear idea what the difference is. *Thinking* that maybe the "jul_2016" is a more recent release, but just have no idea what I'm getting into here
No difference between them. 1-st from MSDN, 2-nd from VLSC. Check the hash (ex. SHA-1) of both files and you'll see that they're identical. And Windows10_InsiderPreview_EnterpriseVL_x64_en-us_14393.iso too
The free OFFER ended, they stopped offering (some called it enforcing) it in the older windows versions
Wasn't it ALWAYS just for Win 7 SP1 and 8.1, not any other "older" versions? Or do you mean that they just stopped pestering people about it but that you can still go and get it on your own volition if you want? If so, I am surprised. I thought when it ended that meant it was only available by paying or using assistive technologies? If you can still get it on your own, does it say that anywhere? If not, their language is as ambiguous as it gets.
Not to pursue this to the bitter end but one can apparently get if with an activated 7 sp1 yet you said not for 'older' versions (I think what you meant was pushing it on older versions is over). Also, see edited post just above. So, is it just the pushing that's stopped but a go-getter is ok? Again, they've got everyone thinking it's payola time.
Upgrading or genuineticket.xml shortcut still gives Free Digital License It was only offered on 7 SP1 and 8.1, so when someone talks about older versions in context with the free offer, those are implied
So, just the pushing is over, not the free license, right? I never would have read it that way nor do many users.
Will this work only with an extracted .iso on a DVD or usb stick or will it activate with an upgrade using the Media Creation Tool?
