The Enablement File is a .CAB only File. You have to use something like DISM to install it. Most People would not no how to do this.
I have been doing Beta's with Microsoft since Chicago (Win 95) so Stable Builds aren't a priority for me.
Over the years, that must have required patience and a few work arounds. I was on the Win95 launch team. We released it with over 1300 bugs on launch day. Back then, it resided on over 30 consecutive 1.44mb floppy disks. You were really special if you could get Win95 from an install CD. For now, I rely on what MS is willing to service. So I stick with what they post on their release page. If you are comfortable with insider, previews or betas, then that can be your preference. If updates don’t break Windows, or you know how to fix Windows when they do, then I tip my hat to you. But a lot of IT admins just hate new revisions because they know that a percentage of their user base will have broken systems. That’s what happens.
Yes, and then Win98, Win98SE, Windows Millenium, etc. I’ve probably left some versions out, but I still have copies of these in a closet! I guess that makes me a hoarder. I’ve got software back to the early 90’s. I still have copies of most PC Utilities magazines. My wife says I’m a hoarder...
You really don't know why it's relevant? Well here's why: If you are going to run a KMS_VL_ALL script, then you are running a batch file scripting language that dates back to the days of MS-DOS, one of the foundations for Windows 10 today. So it's not going to hurt you to listen to a couple of older members who know what they are talking about.
I liked QBasic or QuickBasic because you could compile MS-Basic code. Technically, some of the scripts used in these forums could be put into QBasic, but then Symantec (or another) would create antiviral signatures for the resulting .exe files and VirusTotal would flag those files as viral. I guess were going to have to get back to talking more about Windows 10.
Look, bro. I'm 46 years old, been around just as long as you. What I am saying is that all of this Windows 95abc, 98,SE, Millennium talk has nothing to do with this the topic of this thread. If you want to talk scripting, s**t, we have a dedicated forum here for that.
[OT] What I found funny, back then, was that the MS-DOS text editor and later the Help tool were actually QBasic programs. QBasic was a lite version included with MS-DOS (someone might remember MONEY.BAS, NIBBLES.BAS, GORILLA.BAS etc.). QuickBasic was the complete suite and available separately, IIRC. It wasn't so much a traditional BASIC language as it had no mandatory line numbers. Also I still have GWBASIC somewhere, no idea where that one belongs to.[/OT] Back to topic now?
Firstly, I'm not your Bro. Unfortunately, I do have many more years experience in the computer industry than you do. But that's not really important. Older versions of Windows explain why we are where we are with Windows 10. With direct regard to this thread, I have been puzzled as to why it is called the Windows 10 FINAL build thread. That seems like an oxymoron to me because the only FINAL build for Windows occurs when Windows is no longer under development and being revised (such as with these older versions like Win95, Win98, etc.). It's like the only FINAL Windows build is also a DEAD Windows build! 19041/2 aren't at all FINAL or DEAD! They are still constantly being revised. So what makes this thread a discussion for a 19041/2 FINAL build anyway? Will this thread close when we are all beyond 19042?
This Forum is simply titled 'Windows 10', not Windows 10 FINAL. You're confusing the title of this thread with the forum. This thread started out as an Insider thread, like many others (you'll find a thread currently for the latest Insider build, 20180 if you look for it), and this thread was renamed to FINAL when MS officially released it as the 2004 release.
Whether it is a forum name or a thread name is not the issue. 19041 is released to the public. 19042 is an insider version. I just wanted to point out that neither of these seemed FINAL to me because they are currently subject to revision.
I think Enthousiast is doing a great job trying to make some sense of the different releases. So maybe in this case "Final" might not relate to 19042, so what... At least we don't call it "RTM" anymore, who knows how many reactions that would produce. So for now let's just say things aren't perfect in this forum (topic), but I'm sure none of us could do a better job than our Likeable Limburger
The problem is that the updates are all 19041, so 19042 = 19041 + 20H2 EP, just the same as with 18363 updates actually being 18362 updates. So i did the exact same thing with this thread. A lot has changed since the simple times of the early OS's.
You don't have to convince me, I think it's perfect as it is... Like I said: let's see someone else do a better job... (and keep it up for years, and years, and years, and years...) I think this topic is a great forum...
