I use just registry tweaks and cmd commands for remove appx and some packages, all make in offline mode install.wim. Just use cmd and 4 commands in powershell.
Just wondering, it was only in my machines that new Edge browser was installed with .450 CU? I thought it was to be included in 20H2 version only. Too bad I ended up uninstalling it, as I already have Dev and Canary builds installed.
Afaik, new edge will be offered on pre 20H2 installs too (not by a CU or WU), but when installing 20H2 it is co-installed by design.
Now that you said it, I believe Edge Chromium was installed in a standalone update, guess you're right. At least it was not a wasted update, as it also got rid of legacy Edge.
It's not offered by WU, it is offered when starting old edge or msie11, at least in my test (19041.388 > WU).
Nope, I hadn't launched IE11 or old Edge. My PC had a CU installed through WU, and after rebooting and showing installation progress screen, I got a welcome screen and new Edge was launched. A lot, Vista was very underrated. It ran fine on my machines, which weren't even high-end in 2007, it was a way more stable, secure and modern OS than XP, getting rid of a lot of legacy junk that existed on XP. I seldom remember having BSODs on Vista, unlike XP. And don't start me on the visuals, the Aero design language is still good looking to this day, and much more appealing that the boring Modern design of Windows 8/8.1/10. And even if it wasn't very good, SP1 fixed a lot of the RTM issues, and by SP2, it was virtually identical to 7. I never got why it was so demonized.

I load up my install image in MSMG Toolkit and remove the stuff I don't want and while the image is mounted I use DISM++ to pull out a few things that MSMG Toolkit does not cover. Once built and installed I have not had a problem with many if any apps coming back to life after a CU install. One exception is onedrive's start menu icon which is super strange since the app does not get reinstalled.
