The following is what I have heard from MSFT so far. If it's true, then we can plan on an update next Tuesday, December 8th, at 10 am PST, but no preview release later in the month. "Because of minimal operations during the holidays and the upcoming Western new year, there won’t be a preview release (known as a “C” release) for the month of December 2020. There will be a monthly security release (known as a “B” release) for December 2020. Normal monthly servicing for both B and C releases will resume in January 2021."
Anyone else feels .662 runs pretty bad (mainly on AMD systems?) I downloaded the 19042.572 ESD and did a clean install and got offered an optional update to .662, which I did and after that I feel like my system isnt stable anymore. I dont get crashes but its the feeling that it runs worse than the previous versions. Also I dont understand, why I get this header on the settings app while a friend doesnt get the header (He originally installed Official Public 19041.264 and got the .662 update offered through WU). So: Installing .572 then update to .662 = Header on settings app Installing 19041.264, then update to .662 = no header on settings app? This is my windows: Spoiler This is the windows of my friend: Spoiler I feel like at this point I will just use MCT and reformat and block the .662 update?
So, would it be the same if I had downloaded the updated version of 2004 (20h1) that was released a couple of weeks ago (mid November if I recall) and had November's updates? It is not the same iso though, as seen by the sums.
The difference between an uptodate 20H1 ISO and a 20H2 ISO is the 20H2 EP (and maybe the 20H2 ISO has the 2 SSUs and the 20H1 doesn't, have to check). Confirmed: 20H1 packages (no 20H2 EP, was expected, but also not the old August 2020 SSU): Code: Package Identity : Package_for_DotNetRollup~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~10.0.4261.2 State : Installed Release Type : Update Install Time : 06/11/2020 17:36 Package Identity : Package_for_KB4580325~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~10.0.1.0 State : Installed Release Type : Security Update Install Time : 06/11/2020 17:43 Package Identity : Package_for_KB4586864~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~19041.621.1.0 State : Installed Release Type : Security Update Install Time : 06/11/2020 17:36 Package Identity : Package_for_RollupFix~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~19041.630.1.6 State : Installed Release Type : Security Update Install Time : 06/11/2020 17:43 20H2 19042.631: Code: Package Identity : Package_for_DotNetRollup~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.0.4261.2 [KB4578968] State : Installed Release Type : Update Install Time : 19/11/2020 02:44 Package Identity : Package_for_KB4562830~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.0.1.2 [20H2 EP] State : Installed Release Type : Update Install Time : 19/11/2020 07:32 Package Identity : Package_for_KB4570334~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~19041.441.1.2 [SSU Aug. 2020] State : Installed Release Type : Security Update Install Time : 18/11/2020 22:59 Package Identity : Package_for_KB4580325~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.0.1.0 [FLASH] State : Installed Release Type : Security Update Install Time : 19/11/2020 02:54 Package Identity : Package_for_KB4586864~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~19041.621.1.0 [SSU] State : Installed Release Type : Security Update Install Time : 19/11/2020 02:44 Package Identity : Package_for_RollupFix~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~19041.631.1.0 [kb4594440]
Fair enough, and I do not mind that "lack of a feature". However, I think that ms should use 19042 version for the iso, since it pushes it as "20h2 v2".
There is no 20H2 base ISO, all are 19041.1 + 20H2 EP + 19041.xxx updates. v1 doesn't exist, it's just 20H2 and to differentiate the newly released ISO they added the v2.
You are right. I forgot that the same thing happened with the first release of 20h2 and thanks for pointing it out. Ms being ms...
I'm having major boot issues (can't boot into Windows) and so I'd like to do the DISM thing in Win PE but I need the same ISO version as the one that's installed - 19042.662. Can someone please link the ISO for 19042.662? Or more precisely, I need the install.wim file for Windows 10 Pro version 19042.662.
@Enthousiast thank you for that - downloading it as I type! I am having issues booting into Windows 10 - keeps going into a Recovery loop and so I'm trying to fix that. I tried rebuilding BCD etc. but that didn't work - can you please help me with how to fix boot issues?
