Not when it's delivered to a billion+ PCs worldwide. That's a billion opportunities for something to go wrong, no matter how meticulous the development team is.
i got 2021-01 Update for Windows 10 Version 20h2 for x64-based Systems (KB4023057) sometime yesterday and it did not ask me to restart. Is KB4023057 something new for 20h2. I can only find references to it for other versions of windows 10? And what does it do for my system?
Hello everyone, In the spring, I plan on building my next computer with the below used parts Intel 4th gen core I7 cpu 9 series chipset socket 1150 ATX motherboard 32GB ddr3 RAM WD 500GB SATA SSD LG Blu-ray burner discrete graphics card Discrete sound card cpu cooler case psu Would version 20H2 initial build 508 released in October 2020 (without doing updates to avoid recent blue screen crashes) or version 1909 be most stable for my planned use to play videos on Media Player Classic Home Cinema, to burn videos with Nero Burning ROM, to browse web on Mozilla Firefox, and to play DirectX 9 games like Street Fighter IV and Need for Speed Shift. Or should I stick with LTSC version 1809? I would appreciate the users on this forum please sharing your insights. thanks for your time
One of my test systems is a rp5700 with a core 2 duo and DDR2 RAM and it runs 20H2 without issue and all drivers are available. I use this system to test stuff that might now work on older hardware and so far Windows 10 have been nothing but perfect on it no matter what version I run.
Maybe not the right place to ask, but has anyone used winget? I have used it just once, ~ 2 months ago (v0.2.2941-preview was the latest one), and I plan to use it again this week on a fresh installation. First of all, I expected it to be preinstalled on windows since ms has been advertising it for quite some time now, but it is not. In order to get it, you have to either be an insider or get it from github and install it by hand. I chose the latter way, although I know that it will never get updated this way. I wanted to install 6 apps: firefox, chrome, zoom, teams, teamviewer and winrar and it successfully installed 5 of them. For some strange reason, teams was not installed although it was downloaded correctly. Firefox and winrar, that have different installers for every language, were installed in their english versions although the system language was in greek. On top of that, I noticed that it downloaded winrar from that... knockoff site win-rar.com instead of rarlab.com which is the official one. This (= app localization) is the core reason I want to avoid it right now and use chocolatey, although its installation process is a real pita.
does anyone know alternative way to disable "search the web" on startmenu 20H2, but with recent search entries on file explorer still function it can be disable in gpedit>user configuration>windows components>turn off display of recent search entries in the file explorer search box but when you turn that off, recent search on file explorer search box also disable and not store search entries
