Or Chinese boxes... At first I was thinking about how women with implants have to get larger and larger ones, but then I realized that was probably inappropriate.
W10Ui working with the base 19041.1, other version create a various problems with the preexistent updates integrate in the wim file.
I noticed something goofy installing .844 on 2 systems today. When shutting down it says stage 2 of 2 and on reboot it says stage 1 of 2, looks like a typo. On both systems I installed windows10.0-kb4601382-x64_87d4ba1dac3ea12aee681b660c505607ae9b01f3.msu manually and rebooted.

Thanks, I saw it too. But the problem is not only limited to setup.exe as I said. It affects other files and may cause other problems. It not easy to trace the mismatch for all files, we have to check file versions because file modified dates sometimes are not reliable, servicing with dism modifies sometimes file dates, at least it occurs to me. If we could rely only in File modified date to check if was the latest version, a simple robocopy would help a lot. Also we have to think what to do when a file in media \Sources folder, with Setup DU applied, is newer (version) than on boot.wim idx2. Do we copy and replace the later? If so, we break the integrity of the LCU applied to idx2. Why MS doesn't match the versions of the same files in that 2 locations? I don't know
