Following all these comments I'm lost what version is finally 20H2 ? Mine is 19042.870 and no updates are available since all the buggy one I installed manually.
Same here, gets to 20% install, cpu and disk go mad then fails. No worries, wait for a fix, really want the next version on a clean install.
The lowest required SSU for the current LCU didn't change for quite some time, it still is the old 19041.504 one (from the 1904x.508 ISO). Here i not once installed a new SSU, the one on the 19043.867 ISO is the only one installed, even cleaned up after installing 1649 (.870): https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/windows-10-hotfix-repository.57050/page-615#post-1652018
The official version is 19042.867. Anything above .867 is faulty, unofficial, preview and should be avoided unless testing.
Updated the 20H1/2 / 21H Updates Overview: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...-2-21h1-vb_release.80763/page-16#post-1571109 Added dates to the newly added updates (requested).
I am not going to start this argument again and you are right up to a point. However the .870 update is not the official patch presented by Microsoft for general use, even if it is the "latest".
It is all too confusing. For example .870 is not offered to the enterprise managed installation on WSUS/SCCM but it is well known that sometimes WU and WSUS are not in sync for various reasons. I think what @abbodi1406 says should make everyone interested in installing the out-of-band update(s) pay even more attention to potential side-effects.
Enthousiast ...... Thank you for what your doing . Thank you fior investing so much time organising and explaining things . An idea ---- > Over the last few pages this thread has become full of confused people asking what upodate is the latest ......... and talking about update isues and problems . You already did a good job reorganising the info . What about seperating the thread into two threads ? One for public releases and one for betas and previews ? That would prevent a lot of confusion .
Looking at the comments and my 1 system that failed to update this seems to be one of those updates that is a bit more sensitive to current system state.
Sorry for the late response but I didn't get a notification because there is no proper quote, so the forum doesn't send the quoted person a notification. That option crossed my mind too but considering all updates are cross-applicable between 20H1/2 and 21H1 there always will be confusion, specially because some have problems with updates, others don't, hopefully 21H1 will go public soon and most of the confusion will be gone (at least till this circus restarts with 21H2>22H1 by EP ).
Anyone running ARM64 and installed KB5000842 (19041.899 or 19041.906) could you run this comand and post the result? Code: reg query HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SideBySide\Winners /f _microsoft-windows-edgechromium /k

Greetings from the Land of the INCAS! Testing on a VM running 21H1 19043.899, Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3030.0 (KB5001460) manually installed SSU 19041.897 also installed OK and manual install of KB5000842 also installed OK but..... Bld remained at 19043.899. Should I try to first install previous KB5000842 and install revided version or it would be better to download 19043.906 from UUPDUMP and 0do an inplace update? Thanks in advance for support!!! Stay safe and away from COVID!( !!! JCC2
Unfortunately the current issues are caused by all 2021-03 updates, the regular one and the follow-ups which all have some sort of issue. In terms of reliability the regular one seems to do the job, if users can live with the already discussed printer issue. A public version of 21H1 would not resolve much as the current issues are common to 20H1 and 20H2 as well which share the base OS with 21H1. My view on this is to stay with .867 until the next regular update window - second Tuesday of the month in US (in other places this is second Wednesday) in 2021-04. This is further complicated by the fact that a lot of people report issues with being unable to rollback later updates so their best hope is to wait for the next public update which is likely to clear all the current issues by superseding all existing updates. The only other option is to do an upgrade in place which due to versioning may cause issues on its own.
@ch100 it was about the format of the updates overview, splitting it into public 20H1/2 and IP 21H1 into two separate posts.
