So this means that there is no mandatory "software assurance" service he must subscribe to, and in turn that the pc shop lied shamelessly. Thank you for clarifying that for me.

In other news, I have a user who claims that he plays his audio and video stuff on freaking wmp! Not groove music, not tv and shows, windows media player, like the one windows 7 and 8 had! Do w10 come with wmp preinstalled? If not, he has probably installed some garbage app from somewhere and god knows what else...

If your computer is at 22H2 for example and you have an "Enablement Package" for that OS on WHDownloader, it's probably likely that you don't need that, right?

    Yes :)

Although i think m$ will phase it out as a standard exe and move to a 'app' version like they done with paint and notepad at some point, or just remove it totally.

But for now wmp v12.xx is still in the w10 OS, i notice m$ not changed it since 2013 on the 'about' menu.

A codec pack such as K-Lite may be needed to allow playing of the newer video/audio formats in wmp.

Well, I admit that seeing wmp launch on w10 by running "wmplayer" was one of the weirdest thing I saw in 2022. It is also a 32bit only app.
And yes, I had to see it with my own eyes to believe it.

I do have latest Windows 10 Pro 22H2 and was wondering is it possible to transfer whole Windows installation when swapping motherboard as mine is malfunctioning. I do remember that I never used any installer/activator/KMS/etc. but instead just generic OEM key for my mobo manufacturer. I never used MS account and don't even know is it possible to check because if by some account I did then for sure I don't know name and password.
Again, I don't care about reinstalling as I want to retain all my settings, only about using my current Windows installation with new motherboard(note, eventually it could be exactly same model as previous one).

    My two cents....

I would do a full back up using a backup software that includes restoring to different hardware. Once restored reactivate Windows 10 by any of the known alternatives....

Happy New Year to ALL MDL members!!!!

Oddly "slmgr /dli" tells me that my Windows is RETAIL and licensed. Is it good?

You can simply swap the mainboard and all will still work, only for activation you need to run MAS for HWID (check my sig) or KMS_VL_ALL to re-activate. The same applies to when you perform a clean install with the new mobo installed.

Don't know what you exactly meant by:
There is no OEM key for your mobo manufacturer, there is a MSDM for OEM systems but that is not needed to enter, the consumer ISO installer will read it from the UEFI/BIOS and apply it for activation when the install went online.

That I have OEM not RETAIL license, at least that's what I thought. Albeit maybe I am wrong and there's something else to look at?
