I mean I'm the one who modified it obviously, as stated in my original post, but I don't consider this as a (complete) castration Also the fact it managed other packages but couldn't install this one and only, I find it weird.
Wtf are you saying bro xD ? Why would anyone need to know what I'm doing for my personal device(s)? Anyway, to answer your question, I told a few friends about it but I'm by far the most knowledgeable of them regarding IT, others won't probably even understand the purpose of what I'm doing. Most of them just want new computers with good graphic cards to play games, which I don't care at all. I'm running a custom OS on my mobile-phone too, android device. It's just that I like doing stuff, if I can, + I also learn that way. So why not? I mostly achieved what I wanted to achieve but this update thing, which I'll eventually get done very soon, thanks to this forum. It's not so much about speed but more about privacy, and having the bare bone minimal system for what I want to do on it once setup would be complete. Who needs a (paper) spaceship to drive on a road ? Also you're wrong, it obviously does get faster if it's lighter, less services running in the background = less CPU/memory usage at any time. So.. OR you're trolling me on that one (which I think you do) OR you are missing something (which I don't think you do, regarding the amount of messages you already posted on this forum)
This works and so does downloading the latest version from UUP and modifying it the way you want. As far as modifying images goes, I have been doing this for years and honestly the update failure rate isn't any different than the random PCs I've never touched. My wife and both daughters have both had issues with this and their machines are all bone stock. My younger daughter's Windows 11 machine I just had to in place upgrade just last week. No idea what broke and I just don't care to trouble shoot these anymore. I just in place upgrade and its fixed.
I can answer for myself. I do not like scrolling by icons I will never click, I don't like even looking at them. My start menu on a 2560 X 1600 screen doesn't even have a scroll bar at all because its just the stuff I use.
I said what I've done step by step in my initial post, go back one page and re-read it if you did not understand and it interests you so much, I won't repeat myself. If you had useful questions concerning details I possibly forgot to mention, why not ask those directly instead of trolling me? Not sure about how that would work with the UUP way since windows update is already buggy regarding the latest security package (hence initial problem). Also I think it's cleaner to modify a .iso image before the windows install (and apply final tweaks after) than doing all the modifications after the setup ( ? ) Thanks for confirming it should work the way I asked about, I'll give it a try and keep you up to date <3
I have been using UUP to grab the latest build and then modifying for quite some time now without issue. I never recommend anything I haven't used myself.
I was unable to integrate the said update I mentioned earlier into the .iso, it looks like not so easy in the end. MSMG Tool asking me to update the image to another version before I can apply the patch. If I understand correctly, there is a series of other patches to apply before I can integrate the latest LCU in the build. Do you have a link to share, regarding the UUP method you're talking of ? Seems like uupdump.net website has been taken down recently..
Whenever I observe a discussion like this one, I become curious as to why someone needs an ISO with the "latest updates" integrated into it. The moment you install Windows 10/11, and activate it, Windows Update (WU) will attempt to install the latest .Net, SSU, LCU, into your installed online image. So why the need for the latest updates integrated into the ISO? There are multiple ways to get an ISO, install it, and then let WU update your installed copy of Windows.
I only ever keep the first ISO of every build ( x.1 or the lowest sub-build for any given EP). I make exceptions only if MS f*cks up, like with the 17763.1 disaster.
For me, either xxxxx.1 or the latest ESD release (smaller size despite containing the same bloatwares as the ISO one, rarely updated so I assume it is stable enough for daily usage)
It can happen one wants to install a fresh window, so I wouldn't like to install an old window of 2 or 3 years, if I can update the ISO first and then install… A matter of preference
Cleaned up the thread - please keep it civilized. @cindy_arhodia We don't support any third party "chopping" guides. Rather, we encourage users to use community-developed projects like MSMG Toolkit themselves, participate in the discussion, and share knowledge instead to blindly doing something that they don't have any idea of.
