Code: Yesterday, on December 24th, 2024, Microsoft published an issue that may occur with installation media that contains the October or November security update. It may happen that no further security updates can be accepted/installed after installation. This only affects Windows 11 24H2 and installation media containing updates between October 8th (KB5044284), October 24th (KB5044384), and November 12th (KB5046617). This does not affect the optional update KB5046740 from November 21st and the security update KB5048667 from December 10th, 2024. Anyone who has carried out a previous installation and installed the respective updates via Windows Update or manually is not affected. The only workaround is the advice that you should use installation media with the December security update. Microsoft is working on a solution. You can also read about these and other messages here under Windows 11 – Known and fixed problems. In summary: Anyone who performed a new installation in October or November with an ISO will (possibly) not be able to install the December security update. Microsoft has not written whether an in-place repair with an ISO including a December update (e.g. from us) is sufficient to correct the error.
