& this is from my 2nd working Notebook, same as the first, no temperature is being displayed in Task Manager for the Dedicated NVidia GPU. Running on Windows 10v2004 19041.153 with latest Nvidia Gefore Driver.
Not sure why do you expect it to report anything when it's not actively used. Most Optimus configurations act like that - driver won't report any details from lowest-power-state. It is as if it's disconnected from the system GPU-Z and other tools are "cheating" by waking up the discrete card momentarily so that info can be queried. So do the same. Fire up some game or a video player set to use the nvidia card.
LOL are you comparing your toaster of a card with THE latest offering from Nvidia for laptops? But actually, Turing is a bit buggy when it comes to switching atm
I ain't 'comparing' anything here, & that too with anyone else h/w. If you do understand the fact, good then, have anything useful to add on, go ahead. if not, then don't clutter the OP with unnecessary comments. And FYI, those 'toaster' are (as I've already said earlier) for professional purpose of use, mainly handled /operated by my office stuff & assistances for work purpose, not for gaming or to rendering any 3D app, & my main RIG is equipped with the ASUS GeForce RTX 2070 OC Editon, where the TEMP value is showing without any issue over there.
The OP is not the thread but the Opening Post And i think some here must be very careful with telling others not to clutter threads...
I already had something useful to add on from my own experience with similar platform: The followup comment was meant to deter you from using that screenshot of a newer architecture as reinforcement for obtuse thinking that there must be a bug with windows and no way something specific to your platform. But then you had to act as a millennial all worked up and offended on behalf of.. a.. well.. toaster laptop. Just stop being poor. hint: again there is a smiley on the line above. in internet culture it is used to signal others not to take anything at heart, as an insult or personal attack Edit: the world is really coming to an end when @Enthousiast felt the need to come to my aid - even tough we had our fair share of "clashes" in the past. I blame it on corona virus - we are all a bit tense and there's nothing wrong with that. Let's not get the forum police involved for nothing really. I'm an arse - there - I've said it. My bad!
why are some people freaking over task manager not showing the GPU temperature theirs tons of great free third part software that will give the temperature of the video card
Well, You could try going to HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\aksfridge\ and changing the value of "Start" from 2 to 4. Hopefully it fixs the issue.
Enthousiast and luzea Thanks so much I was looking for an ISO 19041.1 (without patch), so I'm going to download the "UUP" Slow ISO is 19041.84 too, I believe Having a lot of time now with the measures taken for covid19, I will install and test this Windows (hoping that during the official release, there is no difference)
