Yes, but hard-drive errors can occur at any time for many reasons. Improper system shutdowns being among the most culpable, I would guess.
Searchui.exe (Cortana) went rogue on me today--even though Cortana isn't enabled. I noticed about 6Mb/s downloading happening indefinitely (you can see how much has accrued in Task Manager, App history), and searchui.exe was the cause. Blocking it with the firewall worked, but that caused the process to take about 20% CPU. So I unblocked it with the firewall and added a Software Restriction Policy for searchui.exe in secpol.msc, but that only works as long as you never click on the Start menu.... Incredibly, putting the host that it was accessing in HOSTS had no effect. So I resorted to taking ownership of this folder, killing the searchui.exe task, and then quickly renaming the file. c:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_cw5n1h2txyewy No search in Start now, but that's a small price to pay. I've seen this task doing mysterious downloading before (it never seems to be writing anything to disk when it's downloading though), but today was the first time it just didn't stop, even after reboots.
All my previous builds have had no major issues, on this 10547 the icons at bottom right for sound, network date etc are not opening up so that i can adjust them and also during restart or shutdown it goes to black screen and doesnt shutdown properly, any workaround., dont really want to go back build.
Where can I get 10547 core x64 iso from? Just wanted to see how it work are there any links to 10547 x64 home iso?
Did you do a fresh install or update? EDIT I think they had changed how the Metro apps updates, seems like they use Store (WinStore.Mobile.exe?) running background and this one is connected to SearchUI.exe. All that traffic is Store updating Metro s**t, at least thats for now.
This is a machine that's had all Insider updates. Last year, from Win8. I don't know how this could have been updates, since it went for 6GB's worth and wasn't stopping. It seems more like a bug. I just checked Store for updates, and there were about 4 of them, for a total of about 200MB. They updated fine, so they, for one, don't need searchui.exe.
