Removing the Prefetch did not speed up booting and logging in by much, but performing Disk Cleanup and deleting Windows.old as well, seems to have improved things. Reverting touch pad two finger scrolling to off. Again, I reset the "DeleteUserSettingsOnUpgrade" key to "0" in the registry. Wrong device identified for the Hard Disk anti-shake protection, installing the appropriate 3D Guard drivers did not work. But uninstalling the (exclaimed) device and rebooting, allowed it to recognise the proper device (only after installing the 3D Guard drivers, because Hardware ID was identified as HP Printer!!!). I lost most of my messages in Skype. Performing the workaround described my Microsoft did not work.. I still have not recovered Skype History. If you are playing some media and try to operate a windows function that requires a "bong" or some other sound, it seems to dip the volume of the playing media for a second; a well mannered Windows and a civilised touch!!!. All in all, this is a much better release, for me, than any of the previous ones, including B10240.. I have performed 2 other successful updates (x64 and X86), later I will try a fresh installation just for fun.. The X86 is needed to run my car's OBDII Diagnosis and Configuration software and it seems to be accessing the various ECUs and BSI just fine.
isn't it supposed to be it ? I ran the update and my system no says it is Threshold 2, which is afaik november 2nd release name
No, this cannot be the final, but it is very near to a Release Candidate, since Microsoft has admitted issues with it and they are waiting for more bug or operations reports. Initial impressions are very good, nevertheless..
The esd file can be found in the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DeliveryOptimization folder. Run windows update, allow it to download the new build and it will then proceed to "preparing to install". After that don't install the update, go to that folder and you will see the file in there. The file is not labeled as an esd file and it contains a long string of numbers and letters 2.54GB in size. I found it by looking at the size of the file and renamed it by putting .esd at the end. I ran the decrypter tool and it converted it to an iso file.
Already got these updates: .NET 3.5 Feature on Demand for X64 Lang Pack (Language Features) Feature On Demand for X64 [en-US] Insider Hub Feature on Demand for X64 Haven't rebooted yet.. Last time I did, it took hours to recover!!. Well Microsoft, I now need treatment for the complex I developed due to your scare tactics.. Ok, I'll reboot and take the risk..
after upgrading I have the file you said and an install.esd file which hashes are different. what's the right file???
