It's not due to Microsoft. Vbox uses a lot of undocumented and internal Windows functions while Vmware doesn't. You're seeing the direct result of what happens when one application uses internal Windows functions that are undocumented, not supported and change every other Windows release versus another application that uses the documented and supported functions that are guaranteed to never change, vbox gets slightly better performance in the short-term but at the high cost of stability between Windows releases over the long-term.
Seriously, it is one of the most buggy releases by Microsoft for a long time. I am okay with it because it helps to know the areas which need proper fix.

I just finished installing 14291 it really doesn't like controllers at all lmao, and I had used DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) and the UI for safe mode had a spaz just constantly flickering I managed to get it cleaned but I don't know if this happens with booting into safe mode normally or not.
That's funny. My laptop started on Win 8.0 Home, in place upgraded to Pro, then to 8.1, then to various insider 10 builds, to 10240 and every fast ring build since. Still my best running machine.
Yeah I get the flashing safe mode after DDU, haven't tried going into it normally. A pain when you want to use the command prompt for overriding the GPU driver signature. I tried both an XBOX One controller wireless and a Wired PS4 controller, both resulted in a blank screen needing a reboot. A shame as I wanted to get on with Rise Of The Tomb Raider.
Yeah the controller causes black and white blinking, i can't seen to get netflix app to work either.. must have been some changes in the app infrastructure
