Liking what I see so far just running in a VM except that if I turn Defender off, when it turns itself back on (really quickly) it also turns on Cloud Protection and Automatic Sample Submission Might be time to change the snake oil.
You can now use Ubuntu bash on this build and that is a plus for Windows 10. You need to appreciate the effort put into bringing many features into this particular Insider Preview. I personally like the skin tones added to the Emoji. Hehehe...
Have you looked at Windows Update yet ? You can choose when Updates are installed now. NO MORE Automatic Updates now. I have Pro, may be different in Core. For people who want, a Dark Theme is now there. BASH. SFC /Scannow now works. Still looking.
Except that that's now how this works, it's not 21 builds up, it's something closer to 10 builds, or rather, days. After 14291 (or close to it), they jumped to 14300 but continued development on both 142XX and 143XX.
It's been linked to already more than a few times. Crawl out from under the bridge and troll over and read them.
Judging by build 2016 demos, I doubt we will see new UI stuff like notification\start menu anytime soon. People who where using the builds with new UI, doing their presentation where worried about glitches\crashes.
So far, this build is the best yet--the scannow command has apparently been fixed in this build, my network printers--for the first time ever--remained installed after the upgrade, and even though the boot SSD Magician 4.9.5 drivers again failed to run their diagnostics with secure boot on, and Magician still thinks my SATA III bus is not working, the 14316 upgrade installed first time without a hitch from my SATA III AHCI EVO 850 boot drive, also a first--I've always had to turn secure boot off in order to get some builds--like 14295--to install! Very nice build so far--really like the "dark mode"--just right! Everything is shaping up nicely! This one has to be the best build yet! Wanted to add that they also have done something I asked them to do several builds back that I didn't think they were going to do--and that is as of 14316 the Defender "castle/rook" icon in the systray is now visible from boot when Defender is running. Previously it would only come up on the systray if you opened the Defender program.
We were never promised the live tiles, notifications, etc user interface in any upcoming build at the Build 2016. In fact, the major features like the Linux bash and virtual desktop improvement are enough for me to go with because they were never promised to be included in next release. We must agree with the fact Windows 10 is a continuous OS and those features will definitely come when the time is right.
Never said it was.. It was just my observation that what was showed is not ready for insiders just yet.
I can't enable bash, it's not in "Add or remove Windows Features" even when I enable Developer Mode and restart the PC. Is bash only in English versions of build 14316?
You have probably noticed this too, but they also fix many bugs they say nothing about in previous "known issue" build descriptions--thank goodness... It's always nice to know they are doing that, eh?...
