Afaik that fast booting is not all because of the use of a ssd, it's mostly because the fast boot option (shown in the bios as only for 8.1) has to do with the system not going fully in off state but it stays in a deep sleep modus and therefore it starts faster on both, hdd and ssd.
This build is better that the previous one to me. The hibernation problem I experienced in the prior one is no longer present. The Start menu is now fluid and the way items are arranged on it are quite flexible. The notification icon has been moved a step to the extreme right-hand side and there is now indication of numbers of item requiring attention. There is also a good battery save compared to previous build and I can say Windows 10 is in the right direction. Taking a look at the Settings I see a lot of added features and I am impressed with what have been done so far.
Sure but I'm comparing apples with apples Win 7 v.s. Win 8 with no fast boot option v.s. Win 10 with no fast Boot And on the same machine win 7 boots in around 25 seconds, win 8 in 10/12 secs, win 10 in 12/15 secs. Not a drama, but win 8 boots faster than win 10 (and win 8.1), and boots way faster than win 7. The ratio is unchanged on platter HDDs, just multiply by 4 or 5 the values shown above
Then pen doesn't appear in my Settings meaning it is only meant for system like Surface book and pro that have pens incorporated in them.
