It's kind of interesting, but in the build where they supposedly "locked" the setting, they actually locked the current setting, apparently, as I had already turned notifications off before that build. I haven't seen a notification for months, nor have I seen the icon...! It's been wonderful...
Fortunately, I use Firefox x64 DE and don't use edge, and my Win10 experience thus far has been remarkably stable...those options work fine in Firefox. I don't mind testing the OS for Microsoft--but I'm not interesting in bug-shooting Edge.
There aren't outdated OSes, there are OSes that doesn't meet one or more specific needs. And Win 7 is still good enough for 99% of the users, and for 99% of the tasks. People are upgrading mostly because the free offer and the annoying nag screen, and because they can "formally" legitimate a pirated w7 copy. Not because they need to, not because W10 has a faster boot, not because the useless metro crap.
I am on Windows 10 because it is so beautifully created, and because it is the newest. I am using three monitors, and I keep several Metro apps running all the time. I created a task in Task Manager to start them automatically because I find them very useful. I use the Metro apps for whatever I can because they are good. I have one for OneDrive, DropBox, GoogleDrive, Weather Channel, Twitter, etc. They are an integral part of my operating experience.
Cloud drives? Stabilebit clouddrive hugely better than anything else, if you use them frequently. Weather and other useful indicators? Windows sidebar (the only brilliant vista innovation) perfect to use the idiotic 16/9 monitors we use nowadays. Then WMC (not officially available on W10), a good browser like Vivaldi, Otter, Opera12 or even Opera 3.x takes care of any common task, no matter the underlying OS. The only real useful innovations in W10 are the better command prompt, the improved snap feature available since Th2, and the faster boot time. Add the embedded linux to the list for 14xxx
Clicked on update and it gave me a new driver for my Radeon HD 7700...well is windows or Amd better OR makes no difference as win 10 gets the driver from AMD anyway?
The latter option is correct. All graphics drivers, which are offered by WU for an AMD graphics card, have been built by AMD.
smart man i am on windows 10 because it's best for working in gamedev and gaming not mention the best most optimized os to date win 7 was laggy memory hogging junk just like vista
on my laptop better and faster works with Windows 10 than Windows 7. many times checked and compared.
