I am running GlassWire Network Security and it shows me a major connection to MS for both Windows and Office 2016. I know MS collects info with the insider builds and I did not mind that in the past builds because it was low, but this build seem to be a lot more and now office is doing it also.
There should be a connection to MS. This is what makes it most awesome. We aren't living in the stone age anymore. This is how things work. In the future these connections will only increase.
You should expect Insider Builds to monitor your OS. It is for testing purposes. But for stable builds I don't believe in it.
They also monitor stable builds do to the fact that no build is truly stable or finished. There is always bigger, better, badder hardware, and software made. MS needs to keep its OSes running as smoothly as possible, so it monitors things to continuously improve. Better drivers, bug fixes etc. Gone are the days when it needed to wait for people to complain. Now they know about it, so they can get fixes out in days, not months. Be happy. Welcome to the modern world.

Apparently they were changing something with the update system last week, a new build should be available sometime this week, probably 14926 (maybe later if we're lucky). They also only release builds if they pass the Canary ring, so there could be a couple of weeks between builds if a build candidate for the week are a fail.
