@Enthousiast, surely, When I say "force" i was referring if is there any possiblity to opt-out/disable new insider builds getting downloaded and installed automatically like RTM does. My two PCs has insider build installed and I use them as they work. I just thought maybe i can install this candidate build for my own primary-PC without insider builds. (Yes, There is possiblity to postpone, stop and deliver slow builds) However, I will install, then mark this build as "do not update UNTIL a new stable release, then update and disable insider" which will also do what I want
If you don't sign in at the insider part of WU, nothing will be offered on WU, only defender definitions updates.
I have noticed when creating the UUP dump that if you are not logged in as insider in insider build WU will still download Slow ring builds.
My knowledge is not high as yours, so, can you a bit explain this? Because (follow with me please); I installed my ISO now, Sign IN with my microsoft account (for settings and digital activation), When desktop comes (setup finishes) I go "Settings -> Updates -> Windows Insider Program". It is automatically enabled without asking me. I clicked "Opt-out/stop/disable button" then it asks me to either return to previous most stable version (from recovery and if exists) OR postpone for a while until a new stable comes out. I tried this on VirtualBox BTW. Maybe real PC would make a difference? Am I doing anything wrong?
The MSA doesn't activate windows on it's own, the original HWID does. Yes it sets all to SLOW ring by default but when you sign in windows it will sign you also in at the insider app (The MSA then gets linked to insider preview app), i never ever will use my MSA for signing in windows (online account), i always use an offline account and sign in at the insider app only. In short: by using your online windows account on an insider build you also will be signed in as insider participant. @mkuba50, i also noticed the insider install sets itself up for the slow ring by default and now i remember once seeing one of my test VM's being upgraded to the slow ring build.
