I disagree , when new build is release the qa process is resetted to the begaining But when patching its continue the process of the qa with out starting over the tests The recompile of the build doesnt make it a new build
It makes it a new build because the 16299.0 or .2 got a full upgrade to 16299.15, not by a CU or any other WU offered patch.
As win8.1 had recomplier build each time That been with higher patch number Without having the old version Those are just patch and updates complied together to the build, ms making new qa/tests only for those updates
We are talking about windows 10, on 10 a lot is done differently. Last reply about this for me: 16299.15 is not by patch over WU, it's a complete newly compiled build and the first official one of 1709, it had no watermark or expiration date.
New build means its need to be tested for few days by the internal team of ms And then pass on to insiders If its was the logic .15 was taking few days to be rtm After compiling
Still 16299.0 had the timebomb/watermark hence 16299.15 introduced a load of changes . EDIT: Additionally they screwed themself by reserving the 163xx range for Skip Ahead RS4 pre-release builds. Only way left was to raise the delta instead of the build number .
Creating normal boot.wim from UUP require Windows 10 OS if you use Win 7 or 8.1, you will get winre.wim acting as boot.wim, without recovery options
I find this build very stable. I actually haven't found anything unusual. I was previously on 17107 and the only bug I experienced there was a GSOD when I tried using USB tethering - but after that one time, everything worked. On this build everything works as expected and the only bug I have found is regarding Task Manager, when you end a task under the Users tab, it won't disappear unless you change the tab and come back.
It's stable enough but my Oculus Rift stopped working today, so... Well, it doesn't have to do with this, does it? Really? NO!
Since even HWID activation doesn't remove the EVAL status, i highly doubt installing the default Retail key will .
If that was the case the watermark would never appear, 3V66T is the default key for OEMRET Pro installs
