Never install an insider preview build on daily used systems, specially if the user is not an insider him/herself. It always can have problems with 3rd party software, there will be a few more IP's before we get the official build by early access. Just install the most current official build: 16299.15/64/125 and when rs4 gets official you can simply upgrade it.
Ask your self these questions. Can you afford to loose everything on your PC if something goes wrong ? Can you get along Without your PC if it crashes and it takes days to get it running again ? You didn't say what OS is on the Notebook now ?
actually, I don't live with my father hence don't wanna install the RS4 again within just a few days or weeks probably. That's why I am thinking to upgrade/format the system straightaway to RS3.
Either way, when rs4 gets officially released you will have to upgrade it, so don't risk dataloss or incompatibility by installing previews..
Well, THB, I don't really 've the fear of loosing data as everything is backed up to the ext hdd drive as well as on the cloud services, just placing a new SSD in my father's laptop so I have to go through the clean install by any means, so just thinking to put this instead rs3 as the build is near stable & RTM, so when full RTM will be released within end of this month, this will be updated via the WU patch & updates as it used to be earlier, isn't it?
It can even skip the new official build or at least take months before the system get's it offered, the IP will even get expired before it will get the new official build offered on WU. The only way it maybe gets the official build is when MSFT puts it in the slow ring, that's the ring which is set by default on IP installs. But do what you wish, you already decided it seems.
Actually, no, I still haven't decided anything yet, & still in my dilemmas. Anyway, I will buy the SSD on next Wednesday, & whatever I've to do, that 'd be on next Thursday, so I believe by that time, MS will release an ISO of this for Release Preview ring if everything goes right by their internal Q&A testing, or maybe release or hint about the final RTM as well. So, I still have 4/5 days by my count. Will decide then. BTW, do you mean (new) build by the term 'IP'?
The iso can simply be created by UUPDL and UUP>ISO tools, think about it, my (and MSFT's) advise is not to install an IP on non insider PC's, they can decide for themself and to a risk analysis.
I meant the official release. ISO's of this preview (17115.1) should be available on MSFT servers next mon/tue, but already available using the mentioned UUP tools.
Is there any unattend.xml documentation for bypassing the security question requirement? I don't auto-create the user, but I want to be able to create the user without these security questions being required.
RS4 was a fun litle ride used it as my daily build on my main rig the entire time without issues time to go to RS5 when RTM is out
I have been using the insider builds as my daily driver since the insider program started. Never had a major problem as of yet. Only got locked out of one SSD drive back when MS had the problem with some Intel SSD's but the had the problem fixed in the next patch.
OK, thanks. I thought that the system or drivers are installed crookedly. For several days I try to understand the reason.
AMD. Tried to update and roll back the driver. Nothing helps. Configured power and reset by default. Again without result. The screen does not exit from sleep mode. I'm sure that the problem is with the video driver or the card in this build. With 1709 system 16299.251 everything is all right.
