strange, just installed enterprise edition and it was activated with a digital license, ahhh sweet, hahahahaha, don't ask me how?!?
Currently on 16299.234, can i install this "near RTM" build as an upgrade from my current version? When the next build is released will it work as a Windows update or another build update (from USB drive)? Or.. must be clean install? I know doing it to a full official RTM is fine but what about a build thats just before that? Same upgrade options? Keep all data etc? I just want to use it now since it activates fine now and the watermark/timebomb are gone. Already tested in a VM and on the machine with a different SSD.
The final RTM is always the cleanest and fastest and most tuned and dialed in plus thats what all the fixes and updates in the future will be running from as a start point so its just better to wait for the RTM before doing a new clean daily install. I installed every windows for a couple years when insider came out so I have a lot of experience(eventually doing isos and clean installs and retweaking and reinstalling for 4 hours every week). Eventually you learn all you should do is just wait 6 months look on MDL forums and install only the RTMs then tweak your own registry service game mode with BlackViper.com as a resource(this will beat LTSB then eliminating the need to waste your time with that inferior year old kernel and older duller looking Directx).
The Builds between the RTMs are buggier and slower than the RTMS they really dont get speedy and snappy until a few releases before the RTM when all the various code packages are recompiled, tuned and debugged.
It was a while since I downloaded insider builds so I forgot, is there no Enterprise version available? Don't see it.
Only Core/Pro all others are virtual now. Install Pro and do a license switch using Enterprise default key. Existing Ent install can be upgraded using the Pro ISO.
was it activated automatically after the install ? if so, that shouldn't happen, entering the same key that was used for activation the first time or another key should logically get the activation back with HWID. i would say that HWID has already been established on that machine previously, if not that would mean that it's another flaw from MS.
yes I don't understand it, not complaining though, it was activated as soon as I connected online, using local account though, update, my mistake, I checked my devices under my ms account , looks like it did have a hwid established, I guess I never expected it to become activated right away without logging in to my ms account, cause I have had a lot trouble in the past trying to get activated even though I had a hwid, oh well...…..…..sorry all
Since 1 Oct. 2014 when the Insider Program started NO Build has ever been released on Sunday. Only 1 Build has ever been released on Saturday.
The final build is already compiled. On Monday or Tuesday it will be available to Insiders in the Fast ring.
Since they are "paying close attention to installs", I guess the purpose of this build is to test just that. Personally, I expect the final build at the end of next week. RS3 signed off on the last workday of September, and I'd assume they aligned their development deadline to just the end of the month. AFAIK, Good Friday is not a holiday in Washington so that would work out. So chill for the bits.
