    Well for some guessing the correct Build Number is considered a win. They don't need money.

    Like @kewkie said, Ego boost. I don't mind people guessing a final number, it's when the weird websites and phony information shows up that annoys me.

    It's simple: "Deprecated" means that it won't be further developed but it remains in the product for some time because of compatibility reasons, before it gets eventually removed in a future release. It's meant to inform people that it's going to be phased out, and that they stop relying on it.
