pretty sure the VMware and Creative X-Fi things also have to go away. Both could potentially affect to many users.
VMware, sure. But Creative? I guess "driver issues" is the most prominent thing any people remember about their SoundBlaster/XFI cards (besides the long forgotten 3D audio in games, which some of us still wish to see reincarnated in some modernized form). They were essentially stabbed in the stomach with a hunting knife by Windows Vista (yeah, there was Alchemy for old games [although with delays and bugs and need for manual tinkering] and a short lived campaign rally for native OpenAL but it all died off pretty fast, practically everybody abandoned it entirely or at least ignored the hardware acceleration part of it). Microsoft always demonstrated they couldn't care less, unless they could kill them in a way where their hands remain free of bloodstains (a benefit of the doubt regarding their true intentions - like with Vista) and/or cost less than tagging along (I guess that's why they didn't just buy them out and dismantled them in the Vista and Zune days [or however they called those MP3 players everyone was crazy about back then, iPod or Zune, or Zen or something something...]).
I have one of these cards I wanted to install but I was too lazy. thanks to Microsoft I don't have to worry about it because they are too lazy and I can blame it on them! YAY!
I like this speculation. if they don't fix the problems for the August school supplies season the MSFT stock will go downnnnnnnnnnnnnn they need to run some advertisements during the July 4th holiday like old school 1980s style. quit trying to sell the Surface. try to sell PCs again. who wouldn't buy a $10000 Microsoft branded gaming beast? not me but I want one in 3 years when richiots start putting them in the garbage. "Windows! you can do anything! Run Linux: check Run MacOS: check" the problem is..... .......it has to work. Microsoft has a big opportunity here. people are mad at googlefacebookamazontwitter. No one is really mad at Microsoft they are just waiting for something to happen. (as always) "Do not unplug your computer. This will take a while."
