I just upgraded to Windows 10 Pro for Workstations from the Microsoft Store and my computer is activated using a digital license entitlement but I need to do a clean install. so I need my actual product key. I tried running ProduKey but it didn't even find a key. so how do I get my key to do a clean install? From the MCT Page: But I thought that upgrading form Pro to Pro for Workstation won't give me the full hardware support so I must install Enterprise first then do this? Or will installing Windows 10 Home rather than Pro at first do the trick?
Ok let me get this straight. If I upgrade my machine from Windows 10 Pro to Pro for Workstations, it just changes the label but I won't get the added hardware benefits? And if I upgrade from Windows 10 Home to Pro for Workstations I would?
Darn! I installed Windows 10 Home, then tried to switch to Pro for Workstation using this key: -6XYV4 the key didn't work So I then went to the store app to see under my library, but I couldn't find the upgrade that I bought
YESS! That worked! Thanks a lot man So now that I upgraded form Home to Pro for Workstation rather than from Pro to Pro for Workstation, I will have the actual switch with the added hardware support as opposed to just changing the label when one upgrades from Pro to Pro for Workstation?
Theoretically, yes. You can also do the upgrade using the store from Home, as this will give you a full upgrade as well. However, I noticed that even if you go from Home to Full ProWS, as soon as you install a new Insider Build (say, 17025), the result will again be a Pro/ProWS hybrid,
Yeah very annoying. I was on Windows 10 Pro with all my software installed and now I had to format and install Home just to get the real deal
I figured that from the few previous posts. But why the heck is Microsoft offering it then when I check for updates! heh Both KB4043961 & KB4051613 give me an error when trying to install them manually saying this updates does not apply to your computer.
yeah I upgraded from Home to Pro WS because I couldn't for the life of me get that SMART Edition Switched to work nor do I know how to work with ESD files bla bla bla I wish there was an easier way to do a clean install.
Came up with a rather complicated yet functional way of getting the full WS package on Insider builds. - Install 16299 Home; - Update to 17025 Home; - Go to the Store, upgrade to ProWS. To make sure you do have ProWS and not a hybrid, run "dism /online /Get-CurrentEdition"... If it says "ProfessionalWorkstation", then you are good to go. Now, I just hope my install doesn't get reverted to a "FrankenSKU" when the next fast ring build comes out.
