Upgrading from Home to Pro for WS got me that but upgrading form Pro to Pro for WS kept the edition on Pro
So that means that you still have Professional edition installed on your machine, the key you entered has only allowed a license-switch.
So if I enter the generic home product key and then enter the generic pro-ws product key will I truly get an upgrade to pro-ws?
You can't downgrade to Home from Pro(-WS), install home and enter the non gVLK pro-ws key to do an online upgrade to pro-ws, or create a pro-ws by using WES and directly install pro-ws. Yes for 6 months now we are telling that. It all gets repeated every time someone new gets interest in a still not supported sku.
i don't think it will work, entering a generic home key will logically be useless as you can't downgrade from pro to home by entering a key, there is a trick that allows to do an upgrade to any needed win10 edition, read this post but AGAIN, i recommand to test first on VM to avoid to face problems later.
]Entering WS Thanks. Inserting WS Pro key+ activating using MS Toolkit (and nothing else) did convert Pro to ProWorkstation .. (On Build 17604 - didn't work on previous builds with exception to the old builds listed in this thread) Spoiler: Get-CurrentEdition C:\WINDOWS\system32>dism /online /get-currentedition Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool Version: 10.0.17604.1000 Image Version: 10.0.17604.1000 Current edition is: Current Edition : ProfessionalWorkstation The operation completed successfully.
i didn't know this build even existed yes that's normal, since 17063 has been released, you can do a full upgrade from Pro by entering a non GVLk WS key (thanks to @Enthousiast for the information)
@Enthousiast Hey bro, previously I was not able to get my actual Windows 10 Pro for WS product key because even Microsoft Customer care told me that it doesn't have a product key and is only a digital license activation. Now I tried to run ProduKey and it actually gave me a key, it's not the same key that's injected into my laptop's BIOS nor is it any of the default Windows 10 Pro for WS keys, it's a totally different one. Heck I even tried changing my product key in PC activation to that new key I found and it accepted it and activated Windows.
On the web, there is homebrew updated ISO. If you were interested in it, try search and download, and see how it was made.
So if I have a digital license linked to my account on build 17604 (insider preview) what would be the route to get WS digitally activated? I am on Windows 10 Professional btw.
I have read probably every reply in this thread but none of the mentioned Non GVLK keys work, I saw about the genuieticket.xml but I have never messed with that before.
I have yes and I get an error saying it cannot contact the server. I just noticed that for some reason my Windows store will also not connect to the internet so I may have an underlying issue. Just did a dism restore health command, sfc /scannow and a store rest with no luck.
