Yeah I did that before as well. Time was set to December 20, 2017 during install and the network was not made available. Set Time automatically was toggled to off in the Date & Time. I did not touch the time services. I then enable network and put in the XD863 key which upgraded the Home to ProWKS. After a few restart it is now ProWKS but still Insider Edition, as expected. Then I try to run gatherosstate, copied from the 16278 ISO, but it would not run...the rest is as in post #1793
If 16278 shows ProfessionalWorkstation, activated by the key, you can upgrade to a newer build, and it should get the free hwid, as it did when i found out that the key activated it
Oh? I thought I must generate a genuineTicket before upgrading to the newer build...The XD863 did make it ProWKS, only that it said it can't contact the windows auth server. I did eventually allow it to update to the newer release 1903 but I put in my real key by then.
Just experimenting. I never tried this out before and wanted to make a Windows VM for VFIO. I thought if it still might work, then great if not no biggy. I will try again though, with a fresh VM instance this time and not put in my real key.
I can attest this does not work anymore unfortunately. I have tried 16281 as well as 16278. I made sure to set the date to 10/31/2017 and leave the internet disconnected. After it installed I stopped and disabled the time service. I connected the internet then went to the activation page, entered the 3VKCP key and clicked activate. Every time it tells me the key is blocked. So they have killed it on the activation server finally. Also, I cannot find many of the older insider builds anywhere. The UUP dumps / servers all seem to have it pulled. Luckily I already had a copy of 16281 and was able to find 16278 on a baidu server. Looks like the only free windows is windows hyperv server now. But that is missing the audio subsystem and maybe others.
Hii, I am new here and don't know how to work with hwid gen or even have the software. Please share your knowledge or some readme and link to download it.
I know that Windows 10 Pro for Workstation has this Persistent memory feature. Does it require some specific kind of RAM to work (NVDIMM-N) and does that mean that on a laptop it is pretty much useless? Also, is this feature only for Pro for Workstations or does the Enterprise version also support it?
