I was able to change to google search provider in internet explorer. What I did was install the google tool bar *note it will crash* then simple uninstall the toolbar. If you accepted to let google be your search provider on install...it stays.
Q: What famous personage recently said: "If you tweet, then you are either a twit or a twat"...? A. Gunga Din B. Clark Kent C. EM (spelled backwards)
I don't think this will change until an official release, all the leaks seem to be looking at/fixing particular areas. Don't forget the peripheral companies HP (Printers) and Creative (Soundcards) to name just two, that refused to release Vista drivers for the products that worked in Vista. Forcing customers to buy new peripherals. I fact didn't Creative sue a Dev that released Vista drivers for older SB cards Agreed, not get what Longhorn was meant to be was bad enough, but, getting the 'heavy' Vista instead made things appear even worse.
Unfortunate I could not use an local account!! So, let see how it will go! The update from 10049 to 10051 had need this time just 55min while the clean install now is 20min on it's way now and nearly finish. The download of the drivers will need a bit of time but will be done shortly too. I doubt that the Network Settings will work this time, I believe they will be still blocked. OK, started now fully. And as wrote above: Network Settings are blocked. That means I'll wait for the next build and see what happen than. Use Win 8.1 Pro for the time being on Main HDD!
10051 doesn't seem to respect sleep settings There is absolutely no reason why I should find my machine asleep in the morning when I have it set to "Never" when plugged in
This build is the first build I've tried for Windows 10. I want to change windows update method to let me choose individual updates and install only those I want to install to avoid some driver conflicts in my laptop. I enabled the registry tweak below (i searched around) but seems like not working on build 10051, the applet for Windows Update in control panel just doesn't shop up. Spoiler Code: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate\UX] "IsConvergedUpdateStackEnabled"=dword:00000000 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate\UX\Settings] "UxOption"=dword:00000000 Anyone?
Wouldn't be surprised to new build of Win10TP. My 'utopic' guess: a) Windows RTM or 'delay' announce... b) Windows 7 SP2... c) Windows XP/2 SE or Classic/Retro Edition based NT5 (that's my dream). d) Windows (XP?) will be open-source. Greetings to Mark Russinovich!
I got some bad news for you. What you want to do with Windows Update can no longer be done. Microsoft removed the WU code from Control Panel. You can only get to WU through Settings.
Shall i clean install 10051 now or wait for 10056 that someone said will be release tomorrow or the day after?!
I'd say this is your call...if a new build comes out tomorrow - cool. If not you can install 10051...
