I got error when I try to open the ISO en-us x64 file.

 

Tried to upgrade from 9926 didn't go well. Will try fresh install.

Update from 10036 to 10041 going for 5 hours and still on 25 % ??????
Its not stuck just to slow !!

 

Perhaps Bad file/iso after download. Compare the hash with the original provided by m$.

 

yep ! but still wonder if it's a clever decision

 

If you have any doubt about it go for a clean install it is always better to be safe than sorrow

 

Btw any body else have random freezes ? I'm forced to reboot when it happens !!

 

yup, hard lock ups in fact, I went back to 9926

 

I'm not giving up !! Going to refresh true iso and see if it helps

 

anyway to change icon size in the taskbar.

seems kinda small for me.

I like the size it is in windows 8.1

 

Upgraded from 9926 to 10041 with no problems other than the mail and people apps, and that was a simple fix,
had no lock ups at all and seems very stable and in fact its on my main machine and laptop as main OS

the only thing I can fault it on is the RDP app, before I had a jump list with my remote desktop names now its just the
mtsc.exe and multiple of itnot remote desktop names but it is only a preview after all not RTM or anywhere near it

 

I personally haven't experienced any freezes/crashes with 10041 or any previous builds. But with this build in particular, just random error when shutting down or restarting Windows with something to do with SystemSettingsBroker.exe.

 

Same here - 10041 seems to take a lunch break while rebooting at times.

 

There's a way to change but to smaller icons – right click taskbar then properties -> Use small taskbar buttons.

You could try to change DPI Scaling Size:
Go to Control Panel -> Personalization -> Display

Method 1: uncheck the Let me choose one scaling level for all my displays and use the slider (smaller or bigger)
Method 2: check the Let me choose one scaling level for all my displays and select one option from the radio buttons (and you can also check the Custom sizing options)

 

I would say do neither. Leave 8.1 as your main rig OS. If you want to play with 10041, do it in a dual boot or on a less critical machine.

About the freezes on 10041 I think it has something to do with the pushed driver for ati cards but maybe I'm mistaken but for now back on official driver from amd we will see

 

I had so many problems with hard freezing on the original and the new driver from windows update plus the official 15.3 beta. The screen would just freeze on the desktop, never during gaming.

I have an R9 270x I have been hardware and software troubleshooting for days I thought I had a problem. I'm so glad someone else has piped up, it wasn't just me. I've left 10041 in the dust and rolled back to 8.1 in the mean time. I'll wait for a few more builds closer to RTM.

 

Yeah sometimes alpha/beta software testing could be a bitch but for now I don't have freezes any more on 14.12 driver but we will see
