hi. don't know if this will help you. when I tried to remove windows old folder after new install get that message. so I right click on it and then select take ownership and that works. could try that? there is probably a better way someone might post though.
I'm worried after following all post here that non-tech people are dealing with Tech Preview build and we are reading non stop complains why nothing is working in this Windows 10 and what kind of buls**t it's...If you don't know how to take ownership of a folder or file better go with stable Windows releases like 8.1. This is not a hate msg just a friendly advise.
Hi So I am back on 10041 with the same issues I had before. I had posted here earlier about installing 10041 from 9926 (fast ring)and having issues, so I went back to 9926 and using slow ring on the same day the Insiders decided to have compassion and release 10041 to the slow ring users..anyways I never explained my issue: sometimes the screen turns black for few seconds (like if explorer.exe or the video driver crashed and restarted), and when this happens, the mouse clicks stop working and the mouse movement works really slow (like in less frames per second and with some delay), and if you move the mouse or you make some clicks you will hear some sounds like tones (like: beep, beep, beep, beep) but from Windows, not from BIOS. NOTE: restarting explorer.exe process solves the issue temporally. Also the usual restart. THIS is my issue with 10041. And it's sporadic, I never know when it will happen..
Don't for get that Windows 10 is going to be different from the older versions of Windows. At RTM it won't be 'Finished' in the same way as Windows Vista, 7 or 8.0 were. Meaning they only got patches till its next 'Upgrade' e.g. SP1 or 8.1 Windows 10 will be 'Complete' at RTM, but it will receive patches and updates (new features) until end of life. Which seems to be confusing most of the bloggers out there, who are in turn confusing the rest of the interwebs. Best I've found so far (on AMD GFX drivers) is to let the new one install, then go to Device manager and 'RollBack' to the older driver. You have to do this every few reboots. Hopefully there will be a better option by RTM. No need to be worried mate. If you can see this already, you know the difference between real and BS. Let those that can't be worried.
First off, that's sound more like a Driver' issues than a 'Windows 10' issue. So that's the first thing to look at, trying both new and old drivers to see which work best for your system, and once you find the best ones report that to M$ or the Manufacture (that's how beta testing works) Second, I know MS is shoving these builds through Windows Update, but its never a good idea to update a system (especially an unstable Beta) always do a clean install. You'll save yourself hours/days maybe even weeks of hassle, over the life of the install.
It's disappointing to finally get an O/S fully functional without bugs near the end of it's cycle. Take for instance 8.1 Windows mail and (Hotmail (Outlook) They aren't in sync, Windows mail crashes every 2 weeks. There isn't even a steady driver for all WIFI printers. Some software is very unstable (borderline BSOD) if you put driver verifier on the test. Windows XP was the best, then Windows 7 and it went downhill with 8, 8.1. Yeah, it boots fast. I don't just want a fast car, I want a fully functional fast car. Why do you think companies hold off before upgrading?. I work in hospitals and most stayed with XP and Server 2003. Some are just beginning to use Server 2012. Just my own 2 cents Peace to all
For all the nerds tech here that thinks you are the best there is: I don't think we are here to fix Microsoft issues...... but to inform on what is going on. So if we report something we expect some fix and I don't speak about Icons but major issues. So stop Bi*****g about people that don't have your knowledge and instead of fixing yourself things, report issues. If you disagree go work with Microsoft, maybe they hire you.
Thank you!! I was minimize/maximize to enable this when the latest update seems to set this to false now. Update showed up the moment I finished setting it to False! Reset the value now and yes it's now False by default!
ZaForD Thanks for your reply and input. It may well be a drivers issue. The keyboard still works so I find that interesting. It's just the mouse issue. I will try to experiment some. But this never happened under 8.1 nor Windows 10 9926. That is what irritates me. So I will look into the drivers more closely, and maybe the chipset software (Intel) also. I agree with your clean install as I have done the like in the past when facing the fact it's the last thing to do that's available when dealing with numerous issues. I may just do that here. As a last resort of course..lol. I wish I was able to stop the 10041 download though.. Thank you again.
Ok so the Store Beta workaround did work...apparently had to restart and then wait a few minutes before trying again. Was able to get back into it and update some of the apps.
@Evergap, Welcome to world of 'Playing' with Beta's Every release of Windows 10 is going to be different from the ones before. Even if they look exactly the same, there will have been big changes under the hood. Although those changes are meant to fix things, you can bet they'll brake things too, in this case it looks like one of your drivers. Some of us here will do multiple clean installs a day, and forget that it can be intimidating for others.
Quick question for the ones who have been actively installing and uninstalling and upgrading their systems. Has anyone conclusively figured out how this upgrade thing will go? I would like to wipe my partitions today and install 10041 again (slow ring ISO), this time cleanly. I've backed everything up and am ready to go. Just one question is nagging at me though. Should I re-install my genuine Windows 7 Ultimate (or Pro keys, I own both) and then immediately upgrade to 10041, or should I cleanly install 10041 from the recent slow ring ISO and use my Windows 7 license when it asks for the key? Or should I just cleanly install from the ISO using the key that Microsoft gave us for this TP and pray I don't have to re-do all this when the RTM hits? My goal is to NOT be forced into re-installing Windows 7 when 10 RTM hits AND at the same time keep properly testing 10's ability to update itself to newer builds as time goes on. If Windows 10 TP can be upgraded to RTM using my genuine license I would like to install it now, rather then later, and hope the rest of the spring and summer updates do not break it. lol Windows 10 has been running just fine for me, albeit the few bugs are NOT at all serious enough for me not to consider it ready for my machine. I can at any time boot into Ubuntu (or my Laptop) and do anything I want/need if 10 ever decides to break on me. Thanks for any friendly advice on this question...
@skorrpn use the Microsoft generic key I have used my Mak key before with the result that it is used up too many activations with upgrading
Ahh, ok yeah that makes sense. Wouldn't want to do something like that. Hopefully when RTM hits I can just enter my key then. Thanks endbase...
You will have to install W7 and then upgrade, while all TPs are activated your old license is probably kept inside tokens or somewhere else which is then used for RTM activation, right now it doesn't appear there are any plans to just let people enter their W7/W8 retail keys to activate it, they already screwed this up in 8.1 and they will do it again in 10 for no good reason, how hard could it be to just accept all W7, W8 and W10 RETAIL Keys?
