My error is 0x80070057 - 0x20003 (just putting it here so I can clear it off the screen, if I find out "why" I shall update this post later).
These seems to be a quite widespread issue holding up the upgrade. Couldn't install Windows 10 Technical Preview. Windows can't be installed because this PC has an unsupported disk layout for UEFI firmware. Please reboot and change the PC's firmware to BIOS to allow Windows to setup to continue. This happens on a BootCamp partition of my iMac, but this does not limited to Mac machines. OK that works perfectly. I just forgot I had to actually click on a damn color square to get the color sliders... DOH!
They have brought the Control Panel back to life! Even asking for feedback if you like the Control Panel better than Settings.
They asked me that question 12 hours ago. lol and I said "I want the control panel back because I like to have control of something in here" No really I did...
Yes, of course -- I was thinking of Windows Update in CP. That needs a little help in coming back to life.
It's the same with Firefox too, a few pixels off the tabs at the top of the screen, it just doesn't feel right!!
If they are contemplating returning to Control Panel instead of Settings, I would suppose that they will restore WU to it, eventually. When they asked me how to make "Settings" better, I said, "Get rid of it".
No you can't. You have to convert them to ISO if you want to go the clean route. Search for ESD to ISO.
I installed it. Took a look. Restored 8.1. 10041 would not let me join my home group, it wouldn't accept the code to join. IE locked up and wouldn't let me do anything, had to use Task Manager just to close it. Maybe someday it will be ready but it doesn't seem to be even close yet.
They have also greatly reduced the install footprint. Now if I can remember how to uninstall all those stupid "Metro Apps" I would regain a little faith in Windows. Only 1 real negative that I can see is that they are not letting more "Metro Apps" uninstall. Can't remove Alarms, Maps, Music, OneNote, Photos, Skype, Store, Store Beta, Video, Weather and Xbox. Have to dig out my PowerShell scripts again.
