Your statement does not make any sense if they are using the ability to upgrade from W7 via Windows Update to the TP -- which is what I was trying to do. If I was unable to go from W7 - 10061 directly, that's fine (I'll just go to 10041 then 10061), but I couldn't even get it to upgrade to whatever was available, that's a problem. T
I'm sorry no luck for you the first time ... I too, experienced the same way, you did. For a second try, follow the steps (1 to 6) as instructed. Because I think, steps #1 to #4 create the hidden files in the hidden folder as mentioned. After which, the People App will complete its functionality. Good luck.
Download: Spoiler Code: web.esd.microsoft.com/W9TPI/B6B0A0278A90510669EAB90ABF80B22A/Windows10TechnicalPreview.exe Hint - Copy and paste into address bar.
It's gone for many builds now. You could extract the old calc.exe from a Windows 7/8/8.1 or early Technical Preview image if you prefer it over the app.
I went to the Windows Insider site.... ...downloaded the Windows10TechnicalPreview.exe... ...ran the file... ...rebooted and disables anti-virus... ...went to Windows Update... ...no other updates were available... ...chose the Windows 10 Technical Preview Update... ... ...and was unable to update with the same error code. C00087 (I've also uninstalled the update KB299024, verified a second time that I still have no pending updated, re-installed, and still can not update) T **EDIT - just nevermind the post ... this is something I don't normally do (upgrade an inplace OS to a new version). My prefered method (and what I've always recommended) is always do a clean install, but wanted to beta test for MS the upgrade process which seems to not work (figures...)**
Taliseian Windows 10 build 10061 esd is un-decryptable from windows 7 update, you will need to download windows 10 build 10041 iso, and do a clean install then update/upgrade to build 10061.
hey Ace2... If the Windows Insider program is offering a method to update Windows 7 to Windows 10 - it should work, right? /facepalm T
Choose those that you want: A --> Build 100xx from Impressive will be showed and released during BUILD. B --> Build 101xx from Winmain will be showed and released during BUILD. C --> Impressive branch will be recompiled in 101xx, for after will be showed and released during BUILD.
With the approach of the final version i would not exclude your choice, which is the same i would have chosen.
It seems a little impossible, since no one knows how many builds of Windows 10 will be compiled before the final release, and actually before reach 101xx there are other 20 builds, too little number IMHO
