Wait a second! Is this for real or am I dreaming? I am surprised Build 9888 finally surfaces in MDL for public download. It is like my dream is coming through after given up I am not going to see it installed on my system before the Consumer Preview is released next year. I want to quickly compliment Mr. Yen and all those who made this possible and for their contributory effort in uploading it to various clouds. On the final note, I am already downloading it. I appreciate your efforts, once again.
My intention is to do clean install, as this particular Build 9888 is meant for partners only and I wouldn't want anything that will conflict with previous installation for better testing.
I might try both options, just for the experience. Always keep a few SSDs around* - just in case... * - and several back up images too
Id clean install, you won't know where the bugs are from if you upgrade from a previous pre-release build
A clean install is my "go to" method. Just asked in case someone knew something I didn't* about this particular build. *I know nothing.
You made a very important point regarding trying both options. They'll provide you with ample information on the experience from both angles. As long as it is a Technical Preview the need for backup seems to be trivial to me. However, I will do as you said to eliminate anything that would have me scrambling for important files at the end.
I am old and "old school", backups are never trivial, you never know. Better to have a back up you don't need than not have one you do. I even backed up my 1st ex wife with my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th ex-wives.
i hope this build fixes the weird black messy icons that i get sometimes where everything on my screen gets corrupted
I might try the upgrade first as there is nothing lost in doing so to find out about the experience - afterall I would be doing the clean install to get rid of previous version and the upgrade to Build 9888(if it went on smoothly).
First couple of builds I ran with a 295X2, now Im running with a GTX980 - no black screen issues on AMD or NVIDIA or VMWare
ok, 9888 seems to work fine Interesting, in Task Manager it writes (WoW) alongside the name of some programs. For example Firefox (WoW) , MPC-HC (WoW) . Doesn't seem to have any software incompatibility issues, at least not with the software I use :\ office, mpc-hx, firefox, foobar2000....
Have you completely downloaded the Build 9888 ISO file? My internet is more than 'sluggish', to describe the slow nature of my connection and it would take little more than 3 hours to download the 3.71 GB file over here. It has been speculated with right information available on Kernel version 10 that most apps are likely to run smoothly on it. That is just something we are going to be observing in this particular one. I am glad you ask about that in your post.
