Is it just me or does it seem like there are A LOT of people testing Windows 10 that really shouldn't be? Just cruising around the Windows 10 TP Community Forum there are a lot of people that have the simplest issues. Maybe it's just the lack of sticky threads with answers to common questions. 1 example: Tons of people ask 'How do I get my old OS back?' Then they get told basically to RTFM, or 'you shouldn't have installed it as your primary OS' like MS said.
Did you manage to get battle.net / Blizzard games to work? everytime i start the app the process sticks / doesn't load
Am I the only one who has issues with drag and drop not working with a lot of apps in 9888? I used to be able to drag files onto the windows of most apps but now a lot don't work. Eg. Bitrate Viewer, MKVExtract, ACDsee, TinyPic uploader...
anyone notice you cant install chrome (i'm on canary) app launcher on 9888? dual booting with windows 8.1 where it still works and was working on all 10 builds until 9879
Ok, here is the fix for intel Graphics driver installation issues on build 9888; Firstly, download latest driver from station-drivers(probably ver.4029) Then, follow this way: - Delete the line includes " Threshold " in the file which named as igdlh64.inf(It's in Graphics folder). It prevents installation on TP. - Change the first line in the Windows 8.1 header as [IntelGfx.NTamd64.6.4] ( It was [IntelGfx.NTamd64.6.3] ) - Restart windows in troubleshoot mode and allow installation of drivers not digitally signed(This is main problem) Then you're ready to go. Latest Driver is much more stable than windows' stock one. Cheers
I can imagine there are a lot of people who have been burned by the Windows 8/8.1 mistakes and tempted by the outlook to get a native Start menu, apps in floating windows etc. back, under the impression to receive a full functioning system. Another group might be the ones who just abuse it as a free Windows license and swallow the drawbacks along the way (and soon find out it maybe wasn't a good idea to do so). Another reason might be the reporting of several (boulevard) online (and offline) PC magazines that are writing about the Windows 10 TP and even provide installation guidelines for the "average joe" - as if it was the sanest thing to do to lead "normal" people to use a Windows alpha version as their primary OS. Maybe they are all thinking these are beta quality builds and nothing is supposed to go wrong (on the other hand, maybe we can't blame them because they are just tech journalists, most of them without a deeper understanding or background in computer science, so they don't know better). It would be interesting to know how many actually use the Windows 10 TP like they should (test and evaluate), but I guess that number is hard to obtain. Anyway, you can't stop people from using it in unusual ways, and if someone is not aware of what he or she is doing and then complains about it, you can only repeat and repeat "you have been warned".
Installed as main OS, no problem since 944x build. It works like a charm even if it's still Technical Preview. In addition, MS's unreleased 9888 build don't have any major issue too. Correspondingly, it's safe to use TP as main OS
I also installed it as main OS but mine windows was buggy i think due to nvidia card but same windows is working superfine on other laptops on which i installed P.s I have installed it on more than 40 Laptops and all are working fine except mine, the problem that i face is explorer start glitching and whole view starts stucking and glitching so i turned back to windows 8.1 and will w8 till i find any solution or beta drivers of nvidia for technical preview
Hmm, strange.. I have 2 computer in my house. One is a laptop with intel hd 4400 and another one is desktop with Nvidia GTX760. I played Far Cry 4 without a problem on my Desktop PC. No crash, no glitches
My Dell Vostro wifi is working unstable under Win 10 TP. I'm thinking to re move the network driver, and install win 8.1 network driver for the win10 install.wim. Anyone show me how to do that? Thanks
