LOL yeah, Insider program started out great, then went to crap when 9879 was announced as the last build for almost 3 months.
Well MS, if you screw Windows 10 up, you know Linux will dominate. We are sick and tired of being lied to. Phone insider? I really want MS to do well, but they are going back acting like spoiled kids. Perhaps it's time to give MS the middle finger?
Also... they offered two rings... fast and slow, for now both was useless and taking age for get a damn new build. Why MS kidding us? For prevent random leaks? Nice decoy...
But Microsoft are sometimes too scared to show off their latest features to Windows so I don't think that will happen soon
Microsoft are lame, sorry but its true, with the UI they are going back, flat shouldn't really mean modern, they better work on the features, even XP had a better interface, they better bring back Aero. as for the preview build upgrade options, I agree, fast and slow rings for nothing, we don't get a new build each week nor each months, this is lame, least they could do is release current or now old builds or at least fixed builds... wth... And yeah, the Build 2014 build looked much better IMO, Too bad, what was once planned as a Windows 8.1 Update is actually now part of Windows 10 and it aint even looking good, uhh ewww..
Blame marketing, they're the ones that screw over engineering. They want to have their "surprises" and "wow moments" for the average joe dumbass.
Wow, strong words, they BETTER bring back Aero, fast and slow rings for nothing, we don't get a new build each week nor each months, this is lame,(depends on where you set int the update ring.) least they could do is release current or now old builds or at least fixed builds... wth... (They only released 2 the others were LEAKEs, so what is the issue...) leaked in not for GA, and 100% not for PR. be happy, enjoy what you have or get...
No it won't, ever. Even if Win 8, 8.1 and Win 10 failed, Linux would still be where it is today, plenty of Windows OS's have 'failed' and Linux never dominated. You forget that 99% of PC users are dumb facebook / email / photos morons, they wouldn't know what Linux was if they studied it for 10 years
While true to a point, Linux dominates servers and supercomputers. Not to mention routers, home appliances, smartphones and a host of other things where you never 'see' the OS. True the Linux desktop PC is a niche, and I am currently waiting to see what happens in light of recent events whether it will gain or lose popularity, *nix is here to stay. And if Windows 10 fails to deliver like it did with Windows 8/8.1, there may be a movement however big or small to *nix. As it stands right now, Windows is going to have to blow my mind to get me to buy 10 for the 2 PCs that I have that run Windows. And it really looks disappointing to me currently. When Windows 7 comes to EOL it is looking like I am going to have another Linux desktop PC at home. Not to mention talking the workplace into switching too!
Either move to Linux or be stuck or an outdated Windows 7. This Windows Insider program is a failure.
So funny to see this ''move to linux or be left behind''.. 5 years ago it was ''move to mac or be left behind'' and 10 years ago it was ''move to linux or be left behind''..... The circle of OS bigotry life ladies and gentlemen. Windows is, and always will be, the human races number 1 choice of OS in our lifetime...and probably that of my great great great great grandchildrens lifetime too.
Honestly, the only reason I use Windows still is games, and Linux is catching up big time in-regards to that as of recently. Wine suffices enough for some games, but Path of Exile and Guild Wars 2 last I checked were still problematic (poor performance mainly), and those are two games I'd like to have the ability to play. The casual end-user could probably easily replace Windows with a popular Linux distro without much hassle at all. Give them a somewhat familiar interface like KDE, or maybe an easy-to-use one like Unity, provide the basic applications (browser, some games, office suite; most distros already have this stuff out-the-box), give a quick tutorial on how some aspects work, and all should be well. But the problem with desktop Linux isn't that it's hard to use; it's that it's hard to get initially started with. I doubt someone like my mom is going to go grab a Linux disc image, burn it to a DVD or write it to a flash drive, boot it up, and install it (note, she has no idea how to do any of this nor the will to go do it). On the other hand, if I throw Linux onto her laptop; she'd use it without any real issue (I say real because a few games have given some trouble under Linux in the past). But yeah, for casual people who don't play games (or can play the ones Linux provides), I really can't see Linux not being able to replace Windows. Such users would just have to be exposed to it though.
