I never complained, I said it and I will say it again, I NEVER COMPLAINED, This isn't even a beta, its a preview, more like alpha, Release Preview is what you should call Beta, I didn't complain I'm just pointing things out that I didn't point before, I like Cortana too but many people hate the idea apparently, I'm not talking about myself, again. In fact I went everyone showing off and telling them how "great" Cortana will be...
I am sorry MS, I am not going sit in front of my PC talking to it. Generally, as I know people it, talking to inanimate objects is a sign of...well...don't make me say it...but in the home or office...just think about it...I already get funny looks using a headset playing games and using a some game chat programs when my partner has friends over. (I came from the online gaming era of having to type everything out...and would prefer it that way as I think it made better gamers and a better gamer community, but you adjust.) Scene Big Bang Theory Siri "do you love me?" and so on... With that said...the idea is cool in thought...however it better not interfere with what every bit of performance I can I can ekk out of my system.
I'm giving only 1 example and talking about standart users. I'm laying on my bed in my room and saying "Hey cortana". Cortana appears on screen and I'm saying Play "Chvrches - The Mother We Share". It starts playing the Music which I want. I didn't interacted my mouse or even my PC. I only used my voice. After that, I am saying shuffle and my PC shuffles all of my Music. I didn't even moved from my bed to my PC. So, is it strange thing? This is future LOL..
I Always thought of the future like this too, but I hope Cortana is smart enough to actually do this and I hope shes does complicate things further.
She can do it on Windows Phone The only thing you must do is saying "Hey cortana" to your phone. Then you can use play and shuffle commands or other commands like i said
Windows and browsers need a well-integrated autocorrect It's almost easier to type on a phone these days
I still don't get it... why is this alpha? That is reserved for dev. testing... just because it's under development doesn't mean it's alpha... it's open beta.
Do you guys think the new build,in which will be announced 1.21.15 event, be stable to use as daily driver? I use parallels desktop on my mac since I always need windows applications, I have to use 3rd party apps for start menu and Windows 8.1 is not that stable on virtual machine. Because of that I hope Windows 10 will be as stable as to be used as daily driver.
We are talking about an Operating System, not about a driver. I use parallels desktop on my mac since I always need windows applications, I have to use 3rd party apps for start menu and Windows 8.1 is not that stable on virtual machine. It may be as stable once it will be signed off in autumn as "Released To Manufacturing".
People use the term "daily driver" for operating systems too (I see it all the time when dealing with Android ROMs). As for it being stable or not; probably depends on what you plan on doing with it, and driver support. I could get away with using 9888 for the most part if it wasn't for Eyefinity + bezel compensation not working.
So I just learned something at MDL: An OS is the same as a Driver. I will tell it my English teacher (if he should still be alive).
Don't worry too much about it. I am English and have been using computers almost since there innovation as desktops. I had not heard the expression until I read it in the thread.I can see, as is hinted , that it is often used in connection with Androids. I don't think you will find it in any English dictionary other than the one mentioned.
we're not supposed to make it this big are we? by driver they are not referring to an actual driver... how about we change the topic title to "OS Means Actual Driver or not?"
