Although I am patient, I am also shocked they did not release a new build once the announcement ended. Even if it wasn't the CP they should have been ready with a new build TODAY. How many millions of people prepped their PC's and devices for today? I spent all week getting new SSD's ready and prepping my PC and making backups just for today's not released release. Yeah I will be patient, but thanks M$ I now need a strong drink to find that patience....
This is at the very least disappointing... After all those great things they showed us they still didn't deliver any of them on the "loyal Insiders" which they praise constantly. Leaving us with a broken build 9901 (because they know most of us, power users who actually report and elaborate on errors and bugs, use this build), while having to release an official build 2 months ago. At least Windows 8 preview build leaks were leaking far more frequently than those 5 builds, official & leaks combined. The general consensus around the web is that there were builds to leak, but they didn't on a promise of an official build... Good job Satya, good job... You turned the "evil" Balmer MSFT to a political party promising stuff, while actually delivering less and less. You play it like you are giving people what they want, but not really, just like politicians: "Let's change those Win95/Vista shell icons (1/23 of them), let's give them a half baked Start Menu with the best of both worlds (good idea poorly executed), let's give them Aero (will we, it's so easy but let's take back all transparency first for the lulz)." No WMP revamp for those preferring Win32, no API, services, even freaking icon clean-up. More gaming fragmentation (do I buy it on Xbox to play both on XB&PC with XB graphics?, do I buy on steam?, do I buy from steam a Uplay game and try to get achievements on Xbox Live, but who to do it bro?). "Let's pull a Marty McFly guys to stun them and make the press that will test it praise us and let's get over with this s**tty event... Oh and tell them they'll have to pay annually, but don't really tell them, hint it..." Sorry for my ranting....
Now Gabriel Aul has clarified why the new build isn't coming today. "We're validating the flight in our OSG ring before promoting to Insiders. And it takes time to stage for all of the languages." It's explained then. Let's sit back and relax.
Yes, but you get "FREE" OS with purchase of a computer.. IE Dell, HP, etc. and it's that PC's license. But what about the main ones such as Corp, or PC Gamers (custom built users) that change things in their systems due to upgrade, or hardware failure? And that's only Upgrades and of "that" machine. Basically saying OEM license for all now. Or what about those who wait beyond the "year" to upgrade? "Microsoft’s VP of Operating Systems, Terry Myerson, referred to their new approach as “Windows as a service,” making Windows 10 a platform to grow from." Bottom line - They are just trying to "push/force" corp Win7 and home Win7 people to 10 so that they don't have another "XP" revolt. Why, because people still love their XP and Win7 and they know this. I been using the TP for few months now, and it's the "about time" or "thanks for putting it back" type stuff. But nothing "major" for me or others I know to "purchase" or "upgrade" just for the fun of it. Win7 works wonders for the games and such we use, or will use in next year or so. No real "have to have" things. Yea, kind of unprofessional to have a major press conference without many major points. Release of preview, Pricing (full details), Retail release, etc etc. I mean that is the point of a press conference isn't it? To give announcements of these things along with the "PR Fluff". If your doing a many product one, and this one got slid in at end without "dates/etc" I can understand. But to have a Win10 only event and not have the major points... very disappointing.
