    Windows 9 was 8.2 Windows 10 was 8.1 update 1;now is Windows build 10404 :D

    Windows 7(Start Menu,Aero)+Improvements+New Features = Windows 10
    They wasted time with windows 8, without knowing peoples pulse.

    No they did not waste time because Windows 8 is a lot more touch optimized on tablets and other touch-devices. I wouldn't want to use Windows 7 on those.
    Combining the start-menu everyone is used to + Windows 8 metro/live tile/touch interface is a great way to go!

    Windows 8 was a necessary step for Microsoft.

    Things need to evolve to become better and there may be some steps between really good working products.
