A little bit nostalgic I remember the windows7 development, and the first builds looked more like vista.
If the same evolution will happen to windows10, it will be pretty awesome windows indeed :D

    1) I don't know whether you are disappointed that it is as stable it is(it doesn't crash every 2 sessions) or MS didn't put all the features, bells & whistles in the first 'Test' release of their upcoming product. A first 'Test' release of any software product that is intended to be tested by developers(may be some enthusiastic users like you & me) is always called 'Alpha' even if the owning company gives any fancy name that it likes. The 'Technical Preview' is just a fancy name that MS gave it to their 'Alpha' release of their upcoming product. They themselves told, I quote, "The software you're going to see is a very early build" during their release event on 30th September. So, don't confuse yourself. Once again I repeat this, this Technical preview is intended for Developers & Enterprise customers, although MS gave a chance to test it out whoever wants to. If they think this is at least beta stage, then they would have named it as 'Consumer Preview'(their version of Beta), but according to them this is Alpha & hence they aren't comfortable every one installing this with the intention of using as their daily OS. They even have issued fair warnings that you should expect many problems. I already mentioned this in my previous post, but I'm gonna say it again, MS themselves mentioned that no one should expect many drastic changes compared to the previous version of OS(Win 8.1) as yet and that they will be adding the features gradually.

    2) Even though, I didn't test XP alpha or beta or whatever it was(I started doing that from Windows 7), there were(are) many software products that are in their Alpha releases but as stable they can get(of course you'll have an odd issue here or there), the one that comes to my mind in this category is '7-zip', I remember using an alpha build of it for many days and it was so stable that after some days of using it, it didn't even strike me that I was using an Alpha release of that software. So are many Android ROMs & Apps that I've tested.

    3) You are absolutely right in saying that this is just a Windows 8.1 with few changes(they might be changes under the hood no one knows yet or disabled by default). I guess, if they had released it with all the features that they are planning to put into Windows 10, irrespective of their stability, then it would have made people happy even if it crashes every two sessions.

    The window shadows are fine.

I'm used to it since I use Gnome.

    Also, reposting this:

What is the difference between TP and TP Enterprise? Better yet, which ISOs are the best and why?

TP is Windows 10 Professional (may be upgraded to Professional WMC)
TP Enterprise is Windows 10 Enterprise (features things like Windows to go)

Names and editions (Professional / Enterprise) may change when Windows 10 becomes final.

I dont know if mine is the Pro version, I downloaded this one "English (United Kingdom) 64-bit (x64) 17C6CD7224D13DB61B93A4A9D38202E3A0019378"

This is what my files looked like after I edited them:

    basebrd.dll.mui:

    String Table>1>2057

    abload.de/img/16ykwv.png

    shell32.dll.mui:

    String Table>2070>2057

    abload.de/img/26fjex.png

If you are using the English (United Kingdom) version you will have to edit the ones in the "en-GB" folders, not the "en-US" ones.

    These are my edited files.

Very welcome feature, but has little to do with macs.

It was a feature of Logitech Mouseware, and worked even on Win 3.xx.

Incredibly Logitech removed it from Settpoint, the MW successor.

I looked for ages to something able to restore that functionality, and finally I found it (them).

Display fusion does it, and xmouse does it too.

For now I consider that function the best windows innovation since the 32bit kernel

Does anyone know how to make metro apps not appear in taskbar? The way it was in Windows 8. I have the new (win7) Start style enabled, if that matters.

its a buggy thing Windows 10, it thinks you have a floppy drive that needs drivers. Ignore it :D
