Yeah that is what I did. I wonder how many other people are having this issue and do not know about it. I though something was wrong when I saw that there was a lot of hard drive space used when I had very few programs installed. You should report that issue in the feedback app.
They are. You can remove folders starting with nv* (17gb of NVidia drivers cache), and report this to NVidia also.
For some reason, restarting is taking way longer now on TP. It used to be fine earlier today. I haven't done anything crazy.
The latest NVIDIA graphics driver has a bug that can cause playback to fail for files that contain 10-bit H.264 video.. This type of video is not very common, it is mostly only used for Anime videos.. There is a simple workaround to avoid the problem: disable the P010 output format in the settings of LAV Video decoder (or ffdshow if you still use that)..
Uninstalled as many appz as I possibility could, do not run while UAC is turned off, how do we uninstall the STORE one since it is the most useless of the appz! Delete the short cuts is as good as it gets. Says enterprise, thought (hoped) that meant business but still all the kiddy stuff. Why not start with No appz and give us the option? Ridiculous search taskbar icon for M$ advertising, if you disable UAC you get a big white square, handy if you do not want someone to see what you have on the bottom left of your desktop. You click start and have search so what is this icon for? Hope the advertising makes them more than OS sales. If you want to participate at making windows 10 the best it can be please provide your details so we can store them ready to be hacked. Little disappointed so far and see mostly a quick windows 8.2 with useless appz remaining and a OS that does not think we can process our own security. Hard to take control again. We would like a mean lean working machine without the fluff, appears to be still windows 7 64 bit at the current stage of this development. Not much different but a big icon start menu and hiding ribbons. I like the wheel mouse follows the pointer, but is that enough? Regards
That's correct. Since the ISO is a non-compressed file, it will work on the fly. I was just worried that opening the ISO with 7zip will require the WIM to be extracted to a temporary location first before you can open it, like with g/bzipped tarballs, but that's not the case, my mistake. Plus, this will work also on Windows 7 which cannot mount ISOs natively.
No. Drivestore folders always only contain exactly 1 Inf. Nvidia, Realtek and other Drivers have multiple Inf files for different OEMs, series and so on but use (nearly) all the same files that are in the downloaded driverpackage. Simplefied: nearly every inf needs all files that are contained in the driverpackage. If you import the extracted folder with dism or dpinst or something else which doesn't look for matching hardware on the system all inf files (that are in the downloaded drivers folder) gets imported to the system. this is by design as you can have one master image for multiple platforms / machines. Also providing drivers gets a lot easier for manfactures. The downside in result of this behavior is that big drivers e.g. realtek / nvidia gets imported with every inf and related source files (declared in the inf). But as this files are common used by the other inf files and Driverstore doesn't allow more than 1 inf as a Driver(package) it imports all related files again and again to the inf. With about 50 infs and a driver which is 300mb... this takes 15gb. But only one Inf matches YOUR machine. - So the best is to know you're matching inf and delete all other infs before you import the driver. Therefore its recommended to install the drivers by setup as the install routines looks normaly for matching devices. Or refresh over device manager as this methode looks for matching devices. I personaly recommend to install all drivers somehow you want... you won't will use this image. you only use it to gather and extract all drivers for the real / clean installation. I extract them with a combination of tools and some manual work. Unfortunatly I tested a lot of tools and really NONE worked completley fine with every driver. DoubleDriver has the best result but also has bugs on some drivers. With Win8.1 dism can export drivers, BUT it will export all (none-inbox) drivers, also the drivers you didn't want to export (as they are not used by your machine)
Just my 2 cent having just installed tech preview yes its great to have a traditional start menu but a lot of ppl have already got used to the metro start page to me it seems like a bit of a step backwards to remove it yes bring back a traditional start menu but keep the metro option after forcing it on us in all win 8 builds
sevenacids: you made no mistake at all- your way works great also. I was just showing the user that there was a different way (without needing to mount) to get the file he wanted. After my post, I wondered if only the latest ver of 7-zip (9.34) could do that. It gets confusing since there are 5 different versions of 7-zip available.
My 2 cents on your 2 cents: Right-click taskbar -> properties -> start menu > 1st option disabled = start screen back
I use 9.25 alpha since it released, never updated to later versions and it's works great with iso and wim
This probably already have been noted but the icons on the desktop are now much closer one to each other.
