A new bug? It appears that my volume (speaker) icon in the tray has gone missing since the last round of updates. How to get it back?
There is no four days that passe by that I don't receive 'Definitive Update for Windows Defender'. It looks like Windows Defender is going to be a very efficient anti-virus in the future.
I rebooted several times, no luck so far. I'm sure there must be another way to get to the volume controls, but I'm spoilt by the icon in the tray, never learned any other way to get there.
Code: 1) Press Windows + R to open Run. 2) Copy and paste appwiz.cpl into it and click OK. 3) Click on the 'Control Panel Home' link to the left-hand side. 4) Click on Notifications Area icons. 5) Click on 'Turn system icons on or off'. Under the 'Behavior' set it to 'On'.
Finally, after trying all that it worked where it didn't work before. I found the volume icon hiding in the "notifications only" tray, it was a white icon on a white background. Sorted.
In case anyone is interested, this still works (I have it scheduled so that I get more than 1 Defender update a day): Code: "C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MpCmdRun.exe" -SignatureUpdate
At least for me, fast ring must release a new build every week, but i think will be a middle way between 1 and 2 week.
WZor has been very quiet the last couple of days, maybe he can leak us all a build and save the day. We have seen his screenshots of 10031, so why does he not just hurry up and leak it. He has got it and installed it his self after all, sharing is caring.
