Yes, it's so clear that when it comes to Windows we can trust Google to give us the straight, unbiased scoop--yea, gosh, good ol' Google...where would Microsoft be without 'em?...

    - Use registry entry to revert XAML start menu back to pre-9926 builds (Start Menu with optional Start Screen)
    - Not sure what complaints about the Taskbar is
    - Colors, meh
    - Updates is in PC Settings; can be un-converged with registry entry
    - "Bloatware" (Modern UI apps?) can be removed with a simple command

Bing could as well provide the same results. The public faulted Google's 90-days countdown to release the UAC vulnerability as discouraging to public security. I don't really know how it ended.

I've tried Bing quite a few times on fresh Windows installs to search for simple things, and had to go to Google since Bing couldn't find it.

As for the 90-day thing, from my understanding of it; Google reported a vulnerability to MS 90 days ago, and gave them a chance to fix it. MS didn't. Google then reported the vulnerability, and MS complained saying they would have a fix ready for the upcoming Tuesday. So not only did MS not do anything for 90-days, but they also withheld the update until a future day.

I have no idea how people put Microsoft in the right for this...

I can't help wondering if dxdiag.exe just reports D3d12, or there are any actual in-progress D3d12/DX12 files in the build... Dxdiag also tells me that the 14.12 Omegas are only supporting Dx/D3d 11.1, just like dxdiag says under Win8.1's D3d11. So...placeholder nomenclature to thwart the myriad "Where is DX12?" demands Microsoft is undoubtedly getting...or an actual pre-release build of D3d/Dx12...? I vote the former...but of course I'd rather it be the latter...:yeahright: I guess. Although I'd imagine people might be screaming about game compatibility problems if Microsoft was to shovel an early, buggy build into these early, buggy Win10 previews.

UAC doesn't bother me at all any more--in fact, I notice it when I don't see a requester when I expect it (talk about Pavlov's dogs) & I have also reverted the start menu to become elastic as in 9978--why would Microsoft think anyone would like it that way (little elasticity) enough to go to the trouble of *changing it* from the way it presented in 9978...? I expected it to improve as oppose to degrade as time moves on.

Here's what I noticed about Windows update, though...it puts the driver files in the "optional" basket meaning they are not selected by default for installation--I'll just hide them and won't have to see them again. I also dislike it much when WU selects the *wrong* hardware driver--that just compounds the issue, like it did for me tonight. Grrrr. Not only did it try and foist on me a driver I didn't want, but it gave me a driver for hardware I don't even have, on top of that...!

I thought I'd save the best for last and ask how you like the *deprecated* as in "I ain't here no more!" Control Panel? If you like it as much as I do that means you throttled it to death right then and there. I knew it was coming and still don't like it. I think everyone in these forums needs to chant:

"We don't need no steeeeeenkin' OS X, Microsoft! Ve don't vant it!" Maybe Microsoft will hear it--you think?...I honestly don't mind if they change the GUI so long as they don't sacrifice any information, flexibility and capability in the process. You'd think if they changed the GUI they'd do it to improve it as opposed to dumb it down and make it less capable than it was, wouldn't you? I mean, that is logical, no?

Satya N. needs to remember the slogan he used at the Build: "Mobile first; cloud first; Windows best"--right now things are not headed in that direction. Ah well, it's still very early days yet, and I still have confidence that good sense will win out prior to shipping--I know, where was that good sense when Win8 was being developed initially? But those people are mostly *gone* from the company at the moment (Sinofsky, Ballard, et al) so there's no reason Microsoft has to rip defeat from the jaws of victory, eh?

It's been a long day and I've already blathered my cranium off out here tonight...;) I didn't mean Google search (sometimes I find what I can't find on Bing on Google search, and vice-versa; it's a toss up.) I meant with as many problems as Google software has it's darn funny to see them pointing out Microsoft software holes and setting a "90-day clock" like it was an internal Google matter instead of an internal Microsoft matter; and I just read where they've done the same thing with Apple. My own theory is that Google has its nose so far up the theoretical future's skirt that the company often forgets what year it is...today.... Maybe if they'd put aside the incessant PR stunts for awhile things might clear up for them...?

If it's getting stuck at getting ready phase, there's a problem with hardware support.
Try removing printer and audio support and see if it works.

Wow, this actually fixed the Netflix playback crash. Strange that a bug would be present in the ISO provided by Microsoft, yet the bug gets fixed with a simple reset of the internet options. lol... Nice Find!

dxdiag.exe does indeed report Directx 12 in 9926 :) I can't post pic's yet or I would have posted a screenshot. I am sure others can confirm though.

Could DirectX 12 be the root of the noticeable performance increase in build 9926?
