[DISCUSSION] Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9926

For me good points and bad points:

• Finaly autorotate Works now on my lenovo.
• The new start menu is kind of weird, harder to find stuff tan in 9901.
• Battery consumption looks higher.
• Updates Works well this time.
• Store beta just close and it used to work but suddendly stopped.
• I did not see anything new internet explorer.
• Cortana doesnt work for me either for región
• Actually I like the new setting interface
• Notifications popup is great

Still some work before CS.....

did you clean install or update over a previous build

 

always do a clean install that way you wont have any issues and another tip let windows update install the hd4600 video driver

 

i have non of these issues everything works great. maybe the install went bad for you try again but unplug all drives but the windows 10 one

 

I install the 9926 upgrade from 9901 and it worked great, when I installed the Jan patch, then I could not get anything to work, had to use task manager to load up programs.

 

I just noticed that if I connect multiple monitors during fresh installation then after Windows finishes installing and reboot, the screen will immediately turn black after 'Getting the devices ready'. Tried installing multiple times before I found on the internet that it can be caused by Windows default display driver. When it doesn't really support the card well it will just show black screen on multiple monitor after installation.

 

I have multiple screens(NVidia) and had no issues with clean install.

 

Intel HD 4600 Mobile
lastest version installed (10.18.14.4080)
but graphic card not detected..only audio
only graphic driver from windows update just working (10.18.10.3282)
anyone has same issue?

Does anyone know how to increase the size of icons in the Task bar? Like I want to make them appear bit bigger as they look in Win 7 / 8/ 8.1

 

This! They also look blurred.

 

I've seen someone else mention that too, but when the bar is in its normal horizontal position the icons look as usual to me. I use it vertical, which is where I really noticed something changed in this build (smaller than any previous released build).

Now I only need to edit the Edition description...

 

I'm loving 9926 so far.

One gripe is the lag when searching the Start menu.

I'm used to it being ready as soon as I hit the Win/Super key.

 

I hope they will polish the bugs in the newest build and I will start using it as my primary OS.

Even now it is stable enough. Hope paralllels desktop will have another update especially for Windows 10.

 

Old Start Menu

Just follow the steps below:

​Right click on the Start Button and select "Run"
Type "regedit"
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion>Explorer>Advance
Create a new DWORD (32-bit) value, call it "EnableXamlStartMenu"
Restart Explorer​
