Windows update is not working for me, Error 0x80070057 is displayed all the time. Tried Component store repair still no luck and sfc /scannow fails after 2% The new lock screen is pretty.
With the new updates that released today, I feel like TP 9926 is smoother than before. Have you observed any speed improvements as I did ?
It slows down the system and enlarges the font of the long-on screen. I think it is not functioning as it should.
That's true. But on the other hand, it shows that MS keep an 'eye' on those bad developments and that's a good sign!!
If I were you I would apply the registry tweak to add the classic Windows Update and set it to manually search and download updates. I am suggesting a more practical way though.
By changing the REG_DWORD hexadecimal to zero. Code: HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate\UX "IsConvergedUpdateStackEnabled"=dword:00000001
But the XAML Start Menu is the future. And I guess it is required for better start menu functions, Interactive live tiles, Metro 2.0 maybe?
Dont know if anyone else has noticed this... With there being no server build of 9926 released, I was surprised to see the January 27th Update Roll-up available for it in the Microsoft Catalog! h t t p s://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=KB3035129 So it appears updates are publicly available for a currently non-public/released OS? Been looking forward to a new Server build to test on some of my Hyper-V Networks. Hopefully the update availability points towards a near release.
Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this, but ever since the first Technical Preview, I haven't been able to keep window animations enabled, after every reboot I have to manually go into advanced system settings and disable and re-enable them before they start to work again.
Just discovered a weird issue on the latest machine. It's a HP dc5800 with the Intel Q33 Express chipset. The video driver is dated 2012 but newer than anything available at Intel.com. It was running Windows 7 Pro x64, upgraded with the 9926 x64 ISO. The issue is, go to desktop personalization, click on Desktop Background. While that dialog is open, the one that shows all the available backgrounds, it seems that everything is in a constant display refresh loop. Click the checkbox next to one of the enabled pictures to deselect it, a second later the window refreshes and the box is checked again. All other currently open windows, the taskbar and desktop icons are also constantly refreshing/redrawing themselves. Close the Desktop Background dialog, it goes back to normal. Any idea where to track this one down? Feedback app shows about 15 people have reported same or similar issue, added a "Me too"
Within the next few Insider builds, we will have options to make the Start menu transparent along with the taskbar. Not sure if the window frames or title bars will have transparency option or not though.
