Did you by chance disable any services? In particular windows firewall service must be enabled in service to update or install apps from the store. YOu can however turn it off in the firewall options but the service has to be running.

I got the impression these new touch Office apps were separate from the desktop Office, but I've been wrong before.
@ Paul & Tito - better to have 2 posts and need 1 than to have 1 post and need 2 - keep up the good work - a little extra will be in your checks this week...
Although, my enthusiasm was curbed when I realized that this was a superset of KB3035129 with just a couple new items added. You're right. The normal desktop apps are coming out in the second half of the year as Office 2016. These touch apps are a separate thing.
I installed the Word, Excel and PowerPoint preview apps. Two things I've noticed so far that preclude me doing much with these on a daily basis: 1. Though it offers the local filesystem as an option when opening files, it cannot actually open them. 2. Though it shows recent documents from my private SharePoint, it cannot actually open them. I haven't created anything new and tried to save in either of these but I expect similar results.
Windows Feedback app is the slowest app I have ever used on PC (since 98'). Seriously this spinning circle is driving me crazy. It's so slow you could type something in search bar, take a nap and when you woke up the app maybe find something. I won't even speak about posting new feedback where after clicking "Send" you can take a tour all over the world and come back having a hope the app didn't crash or lost text field content
Dito. The app makes it really hard to browse or vote up feedback. I'm not even sure if I'm upvoting feedback items correctly, there is the option to add additional feedback to an item (which btw is supposedly public but I don't see comments of other people anywhere) but the "Me Too" count does not increase after sending.
LOL, I just added feedback myself. It took approximately 4 seconds to search for and show me all the results. I'm not sure I can tour the world in 4 seconds.
If you cant see the office apps in the beta store (like myself) you can get them from these links directly. microsoft.com/en-us/store/apps/word-preview/9wzdncrfjb9s microsoft.com/en-us/store/apps/powerpoint-preview/9wzdncrfjb5q microsoft.com/en-us/store/apps/excel-preview/9wzdncrfjbh3 Not enough posts for hyperlinks, so if the above dont work, slap https on the front The apps are basic, but I can see these being much easier to use for simple document creation on a sub 10 inch tablet. They are in the article, but if you havent read it... there you go.
After the recent update to 9926 there is a new How To video in the Get Started app but it doesn't show new stuff. It's nice that they seem to include tutorial videos from the beginning now. One of Windows 8.0 mistakes.
The site simply says "To buy or install this app, go to Windows Store from your Start screen.". I guess the Store should open when visiting those links? EDIT: The apps are now displayed in the Store..
