Maybe you had inadvertently installed 9926 in dual boot mode maybe? And it booted into the older installation maybe? lol just throwing ideas out. With each install looking the same to me I sometimes have no idea what Windows version I am in. lol
Good news for TP testers: Oracle just released a new VirtualBox version (4.3.22). The Guest Additions now install and work flawlessly in TP as guest system, including the virtual graphics driver - full-screen (fixed screen resolution) & seamless modes are now enabled, the graphics is subjectively at least 10x times faster
No dual boot, but I do have the two options of Windows 10 and Rollback before Windows boots, but I never hit anything on that screen, I just let it auto select Win 10. Everything seems fine after reupgrading to 9926. So bizarre.
speaking of virtual machines and Win10TP 9926 or >. If you are having issues trying to get VMware Workstation 11 to autoresize the guest OS, shut down the guest and open settings for the display and disable 3d Acceleration, and then start the guest. After the guest has been started, shut it down again *yes....* and re-enable the 3d Acceleration. For most thats all that is needed, for others they have to leave 3d Acceleration disabled. Fortunately for my system, disable start, shut down re-enable is all I needed to do. Anyone having more than 1 monitor may want to try adding Code: svga.numDisplays = "1" to their vmx file if the above isn't working. Best option is trying the 3d Acceleration first.
Please, I'm a newbie regarding VMs, which one is best among the free ones, VMware Player o VirtualBox? Edit: I'm using VMware Player right now...
It generally doesn't. And if you ran the HDD clean tool after you installed 9926 and deleted the previous Windows Installation files it definitely wouldn't have
Latest Realtek Audio drivers can cause Cracking Sound in Speakers (laptop especially) but its fine if u use headphones. To rectify the issue: DO not install new drivers via Windows Update. Revert back if you installed, and Disable Sound Enhancement's (in Playing Devices --> Right click on Speakers ---> Properties --> Enhancements --> Check "Disable all Sound Effects". Apply/ OKAY And then restart PC.
when 11 came out it brought uefi support and vbox took months to get that in a update better support better performance a all around better vm unless your on os x then pd10 wins all day
Do none of you guys use Hyper-V? Until I upgraded my physical Win8.1 install to 9926, I was using Hyper-V to test all of the previous builds. Also have various other virtual builds inside Hyper-V and I have not one complaint with it. Its free, integrated and has had zero issues running Win 10.
hyper-v uses system UEFI so it will work like a native windows but i run windows 10 as my main os so i can truly test it and report bugs
Thats why I am running it on bare metal now with build 9926. Just wondered why so many people use other VM software when Hyper-V is built right into the OS. From the Microsoft Website: Not the hardest specifications to meet... Are other offerings that different in requirements? EDIT: I guess the most limiting requirement is that it is only useable on Windows 8.1 onwards. (Little bit of info, if you have Hyper-V installed, upon upgrading to Win 10, it gets removed and you have to reinstall it post upgrade.)
Isn't hyper-v a type 1 hypervisor ? I've seen reports of it interfering with gaming experience. I prefer vmware workstation for this reason.
