It happens to me in VB, sometimes a lot more than 2-3 sec, but only after the boot or a restart, after that it shows immediately.
Yep, same here on a VM and a laptop. Also it can take 3 or 4 sec's for the Program List to appear when clicking on 'All Apps' But as RGadelha says, that's after booting up, its quicker the next time.
Probably because the new start menu actually runs in an external process similar to a Store app (Shell Experience Host), side-by-side with explorer.exe. Cortana also runs in a separate process even though she looks to be integrated into Explorer. This was probably done to keep everything modular and increase stability but it can also lead to those things taking some time to open. Also, a crashing explorer.exe will magically leave the Start menu open. Hope they refine this some more.

Suddenly Chrome has started crashing on exiting it. Tried both: Beta and Stable. Deleted Old Profile but it still crashes on Exit. Anyone else having this error?
it's doing it on 8.1 as well, I uninstalled and deleted google chrome folders in user appdata and re-installed...profit
ok. it seemed its the Beta version of Chrome. I deleted profile folder again, Ran CCleaner and re-installed Stable. Now it seems fine.
