I'm sticking with the Win10 menu too, because I honestly like it. I hated the Win8 menu, but ClassicShell actually made Windows 8 usable. Since MS has combined the best of Win7 and Win8.1 in 10, I'll stick with the default menu in Win10.
Very true !! I used just this little tweak tho Code: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced] "EnableXamlStartMenu"=dword:00000000 Don't like the standard wide start menu in Windows 10 the smaller one after using the reg tweak I like better
I tried this command (twice, to make sure it worked), then re-enabled the new Start menu in regedit and restarted windows. the Search function now works, but the start menu itself still doesn't pop up. Nothing changed in respect to the Metro apps. Still broken. Thanks a lot for your help.
I don't really care what the Start menu looks like as long as its functional, which is just as well as I'm always moving round between Operating Systems. But the Start menu in Windows 10 is starting to piss me off, it takes so long to get to the things I want. On my laptop I've switched to the Windows 8.x/Tablet style start page as I find it quicker to get to what I'm after.
Shrink your ego to match the worth of your opinion. Learn punctuation while you are at it. Many people like "the same old s**t" because it was functional and met their needs in a concise way. Classic Shell gives users great control of the type of start menu they want. Seems to me that Microsoft could do the same. You think?
MS is running a couple of rings now: The fast and the slow one which can be adjusted in System Settings and a more sophisticated style called the optimistic and the pessimistic ring. Latter ones cannot be adjusted by any means and mostly disappoint individuals or catch them by surprise
You'll know as soon as the techs here at MDL know, assuming they are clean and sober at the time... Ya' beat me PD....WTG!
