On the laptop that wouldn't update the Store Bate till I change the Language/Region settings, it says the app version is 2015.2.5.1 the same as yours. I've no sign of any other updates in either Store or on Windows Update
Haha, and on March 2nd they're going announce "we will release a new technical preview tomorrow... or maybe within the next week" As far as I remember, Gabe teased everybody there will be a new build in February... this is the second time they seem to be running off tracks. I mean, if it was planned to release the thing in tandem with an event in early March, why didn't they say so?
That's just pure evil, and should never be forced to exist. People should always be able to buy a current version outright, to force the cloud rented OS feature even on the average joe is madness. It might work for some companies but I want to own it. Good thing I went Mac, as Apple hasn't indicated plans for this kind of scumbaggery, and the alternative is probably Ubuntu.
So....they have already started developing Windows Vista 3.0 the Windows Store & Cortana are the first steps in this pure Evil plan...MS amazingly managed to put a fancy spyware on Windows & is fooling everyone by saying how "cool" & "personal" it is & how it "learns about you & your stuffs" & then there is the store, which is slowly trying to create an environment where only the apps allowed by MS will run on Windows & that's pretty much evident from the replacement of the Win32 apps with their "Modern" counterparts...What's with MS & this crap cloud computing??? why would someone want to share all of their detailed info & files with MS & friends??
Glad I have been using Ubuntu and WPS Office/LibreOffice for quite some years. Once these clowns at Redmond really force all these cloud BS over us, I'll have to ditch Windows.
Sorry guys, but this is more BS, just like what was being spouted around the media when Microsoft said Windows 10 would be free. The important part is 'if this is TRUE' Considering how much trouble Microsoft went to, to explain that the 'Free for the first year' quote meant you didn't have to pay if you upgraded in the first year. I don't think theres anyway they'd do something like this. Or if they tried it would backfire massively on them. More importantly, Windows 10 is basically Windows 8.x with a facelift. It was never designed to be a subscription based Operating System and would need a lot more than a 'Facelift' to make it work that way. If this is TRUE it will be for Windows 11+ not Windows 10.
