that's not the point you NEED something original in your winsxs for FoDs updates because FoDs are always 26100.1 and they aren't going to update it or PE addon for ADK
Builds 26100.X always listed 26100.1 packages, even after updating and rebasing, but that did not mean 26100.1 packages were kept. You could use NTLite to perform Custom cleaning which removed 26100.1 packages from being listed, but such cleaning tended to corrupt component store, yet allowing for succeasful repairs. Such repairs were not bringing back 26100.1 packages as listed. Rebasing itself worked great until 26100.18XX updates came out. You could rip the hell out of 26100.17XX and earlier builds with NTLite and rebase the image without either corrupting it or be repairable after install. Now I have to test 26100.18XX+ builds each time I make an image to see if it can be rebased without corruption after component removal. I have a bad feeling that DISM component store and file integrity will be breaking for 26100.X builds when non-CU get applied.
Nope, didn't work, I'm on a machine that has 22631.4249 I tried both KB5043178 and KB5043080 and I get the message "This update is not applicable to your computer" Ah, that is why. Thanks. Was crossing fingers that there was something out right now. Just avoiding trying to re-run setup.... to get 24h2...
You won't be able to avoid it, one way or another it will get you. Even WU simply does a build upgrade by running Setup.exe.
Here is an interesting one.... I downloaded "en-us_windows_11_business_editions_version_24h2_x64_dvd_59a1851e.iso", pulled out the WIM and extracted just Enterprise with ESD2WIM-WIM2ESD. I use MDT so I put this WIM on my server, built an image and it only installs Pro, even though only Enterprise was listed in my WIM. I've done this over the years on this site with assorted 21H2, 22h2 and 23h2.... and now 24H2 but, never seen this issue before... Any idea ?
Show the entire progress, if the system has MSDM for pro and you left pro in then it is automatically selected. ei.cfg is not accepted on 24H2 for skipping this, only using iso with only the desired SKU and maybe a pid.txt will work (have to test the latter).
But why is it stupid? Wasn't it supposed to be offered by it since apparently it was already released 3 days ago? Are you saying it was out 3 days, after all? I know, but why isn't it offered by WU already when it was apparently released 3 days ago, and besides, is it true it might still not be offered by it even in Patch Tuesday like I was told here and I might have to wait some more time (like some days)?
they never release everything at once they released ISO and mct and assistant for those who want to install it manually that's it, it's too risky to send this new upgrade to the whole install base it's not released in WU, and it's never been released on the same day as the ISO, it takes time for obvious reasons depends on your software and drivers, they could block you if your drivers are too old so you'll get it years later
And isn't it too risky to release it as ISO, MCT and Assistant, then? If so, they shouldn't release it at all in any way until some time has passed. What software is that?
Already a long time has passed, on UUP system it is available for quite some time and to OEMs it is also already released months ago and the arm64 devices also are running for quite some months. The WU upgrade option will be available on the most modern systems first, and next the older systems, and so on and on...
Is this enough ? This is the WIM that I moved over to my MDT server. It's just Enterprise. And the server has Pro on it too, as it's needed for an image...
What do you mean by most modern systems first, the ones which have the latest hardware or drivers installed? So, is it possible for it to take years to be offered by WU or to not be offered at all, then? Also, what software is @Paul Mercer talking about?
modern systems = lower failure rate, why is this so hard to understand? they send it in waves for ages
Then it's not guaranteed it will be released in Patch Tuesday and I might as well install it right away. Isn't it possible to be modern and still have issues? I thought by modern you meant having the latest hardware or drivers. What did you mean by software here?
